OFFICIAL Chi Cubs Thread: Anyone can have a bad century/this is the year

Hell, Cal Ripken Jr. only hit .276 for his career, is he larger than the game? I would say in most peoples' eyes the answer is yes.

I will also stick to my guns, if you change the game like Aparicio did, you will be a HOFer. All Jim Edmonds has done has had a pretty good career and been on Web Gems 20 times.

I agree that he's a HOFer, i was making a point about Doozer's comment.

Fair enough. Luis Aparicio is one of the guys I wish I had gotten to see play, all I have heard are stories. To me, he probably is larger than the game just because I remember hearing so much as a kid.

You said that you have to be larger than the game to be a HOFer, so i don't see where you're going with it.

VOLNBAMA, only one person said to be in the HOF you had to be larger than the game. Neither emain nor I said that.

and that's just my opinion too. there's guys who you can always make a case for either way. to me, when i think of a HOFer, i think of a guy who was at one time, larger than the game or did something to change the way the game was played or did something nobody else was. i don't vote and can say with certainty never will vote on the HOF.

not going to get deep into the numbers but if you strike out 10 batters in 5.1 innings then you were pretty dominant.

You need to learn what words REALLY mean. Allowing 8 baserunners in 5.1 innings is not dominant, even if he struck out all 16 batters he got out.
