Official Duke/UNC 2016-17 Thread

It's looking like the matchup with the greatest roster ever composed next Saturday in chapel hill won't have much meaning.

I don't care if Duke is 15th in the ACC as long as it beats UNC.

GO TO HELL CAROLINA GO TO HELL!

I never imagined UNC having this kind of year. I thought it would be a good year, but a relatively pedestrian one by UNC standards. I figured we'd finish around 3rd or 4th in the ACC, with a 3-6 seed in the NCAA.

While I still think it likely we lose one of our next two matchups, if we can win the ACC Tournament, we are a lock for a 1 seed. If we happen to win our next two games and at least look presentable in the ACC Tournament, then we also are a lock for a 1 seed, regardless whether or not we win it all in Brooklyn.

Luke' s subpar game yesterday probably guaranteed Justin Jackson as ACC POY unless Luke plays great in the next two or outshines Jackson next Saturday.

You know it.

Bruised and bloodied in a transparent act of frustration by an ethics-challenged, floor-slapping proficient Coach K enforcer, Hansbrough then went on to become the ACC's all-time leading scorer, an honor which was to be commemorated in the renaming of a high school gymnasium in Durham, NC, as "Hansbrough Indoor Stadium."

That "ethics-challenged floor slapping" coach has won more titles than Dean and Roy combined. Oh and give me a ****ing break with your eithics bull****, the AFAM studies started in 93 fresh off K and Duke's back to back titles. I don't like to go there, but you're forcing my hand. Who was the coach back then? The most dirtless man ever. What a joke.

Jesus Christ, man.

You feeling triggered like your avatar or something?

Yeah I'm staying out of all that. I'm just hoping somehow Luke stays all four years and breaks the scoring record.

I never really know what I'm going to get with RDU. I was expecting a chuckle out of him (especially since I've hardly even participated in this thread this season), but, instead, I got a rage demon. I guess it just depends on what mood he's in.

Regarding your statement, yes, it's very possible.

I was going to wait to see who wins Saturday and if Duke wins I was going to make a joke about renaming that place in Chapel Hill after Grayson since he will be 3-0 there and he's probably gone after this year.

As for Luke, depending on how many more games Duke plays this year he will be very close to what Hansbrough had after his sophomore year. For reference, JJ scored his 1000th point in the ACC tournament of his sophomore year - Kennard hit the 1000 point mark this past Saturday. However, I don't expect Luke to be back next season.

Volprof,

Please accept my apology for being a rage demon. Let's just say yesterday was not my finest hour and I reacted in a poor fashion. Now to let you know that I am truly sorry I will let you in on a little nugget of information that I've been sitting on for about 6 weeks. I feel dirty....

My wife and I sat next to and conversed with Tyler Hansbrough in a bar in Durham for about 3 hours watching an NFL game talking basketball, football and booze with he and one of his brothers. He was a nice guy and far more intelligent than I've ever given him credit for. We were meeting some friends and he happens to be a friend of a friend. So from here on out if I make fun of him know that I actually think he's a pretty good dude (slightly socially awkward) who is one of the best players in ACC history.

Jackson just left the door open for Luke to come in and swipe POY honors. If Luke plays well tomorrow night it'll be on the line on Saturday.

He's going to need to, sounds like Amile and Allen are both sitting. I'm okay with that, I still think Duke can make a deep run.

There are two types of posters on this board. Those who hurl insults and project rage inappropriately, yet never apologize, and those who hurl insults and project rage inappropriately, yet know when to account for themselves.

You, sir, are among the latter, which is why - despite our on-and-off-again squabbles - I've never had anything but respect for you. I have a pretty good sense of people and things, and you've never struck me as anything but genuinely good at heart. At the end of the day, it is hate-less confrontation, simply fueled by ego and pride.

Really, there was no reason to apologize, but it did make you a far bigger man.

That was a great story about Hansbrough, by the way. Why the heck did you sit on that for so long?

I just realized that, with my work schedule this season, I haven't delivered any volprof in-game commentary in this thread.

I should be able to for the game Saturday, so, provided I make it back in here, you better saddle your horses up, cowgirls.

Tonight's game in Cameron could be the last for the following scholarship players:

Grayson Allen
Matt Jones
Amile Jefferson
Harry Giles
Marques Bolden
Jayson Tatum
Chase Jeter
Luke Kennard
Sean Obi

Let's all hope so.

Lol that's more like it, ya tar hole.

Tar hole is kind of a weird insult to me

Eh, it's never been my favorite.

But it is a none-too-subtle reference to a poop-smeared butthole.

Ergo, its appeal to Tar Heel detractors.
