Official Duke/UNC 2024/25 Thread (Final 4 or Bust for Both)

UNC has been typical UNC this year. They either get a huge lead and just fall asleep or they start slow and have to claw their way back in the game. RJ continues to ignore when it’s just not his night and will shoot any shoot good or bad and just blow possessions. I’m starting to think after this year RJ Davis will have played more games for UNC than Dean Smith coached.
It feels like he’s been there forever .

I’m assuming based on your name you’re in the Raleigh/ Durham area. I just moved from that way back in 2020, little town called Wilson. First stop was the nc mountains in Murphy, NC and now here in Knoxville.

I am. I grew up in Durham, living about 5-10 minutes from Duke’s campus . Currently live between Durham and Greensboro . Started going to Duke basketball and football games when I was 3-4 years old, which was in the mid 80s. I know Wilson well, spent some time in Rocky Mount. I was always a UT fan, having family in the Tri-Cities and ended up graduating from UT. Tennessee is where my allegiances are, but I certainly have a soft spot in my heart for Duke. It pisses a lot of people off on this board. Wait until March.

Hope you stick around and contribute in this thread.

Will do and I see Duke handled ND today. Growing up as a UNC fan I always admired Coach K’s coaching and recruiting ability. We sure had some great rivalries to watch growing up from the mid 80’s til now for sure.

That’s not exactly a small window of describing where you live lol. Mebane?

I remember stopping at a Cracker Barrel near Mebane once and pronounced Mebane with a long e and long a sound. Didn’t realize the fall out that would cause. The waitress immediately corrected me with hands on hip too.
Mebane is “Positively Charming” unless you say mispronounce the name.

Stanford was 0-13 against UNC heading into today. Blake(former Dukie) hit a tough shot.... Hats off to Stanford on this win.

Hubert Davis had a magical run in March three years ago. Aside from that, he’s Matt Doherty.
Brady Manek might be the greatest portal addition in the history of college basketball. Hubert should always get him a nicer Christmas gift than he does his wife .

Apologies to the UNC folks, but as a Dukie I feel I have to post the Blakes clip

It’s amazing how he could barely make a layup at Duke and he hits that shot and score 22 today. Good for him. He was always a kid that gave it 100%, but couldn’t put it together . Great to see him have success.

Some are speculating there’s only 1 candidate: Nate Oats
Funny you mention that. I was on a group text and we were discussing him. We all said it’s civil with Hubert bc he’s a good guy, but the second that guy comes to Chapel Hill it’s a full on hate fest .

They’d never hire him because of his character baggage. Whether or not he could win a title wouldn’t discussed.

Unfortunately, I'm starting to get that from him even though I've been rooting for him.
That’s tough to make that comparison but I would agree. I just don’t think he’s a great in game manager. He’s getting out recruited by Duke, which historically it’s been that way for awhile

I miss Roy though. We used to have drinking game where we would take shots everyone Ror said dag gumit or younsters during the postgame interview. Double shot when he combined the two
