Again, while I respect your beliefs... voting your principles in this election will have zero effect on improving the economy.
but when I say I'm doing just that I get made fun of
posted this earlier in another thread but I still think it fits
and ftr I'm heavily medicated and still can't understand what MSNBC thinks they're doing
No doubt. The hope is that it will in some small way advance the libertarian cause. I can't tell you the amount of people that have told me they would vote Libertarian if they thought they had any shot at winning. Thus, we have to build some sort of momentum at some point. Revolutions will never start by sticking to the status que for the sake of thinking your vote is not meaningless.

The key difference is thinking versus knowing. If I thought a third party vote could make a difference I would gladly offer it up, but the numbers just don't support it happening this election. Ross Perot had the best opportunity to make an impact, and unfortunately he was the wrong candidate at the right time... imo. Hopefully a Libertarian or other moderate 3P candidate gets that opportunity again in the not too distant future.

No issues here. If you clearly dislike both candidates equally, which seems to possibly be the case, then I wouldn't vote for either one of them. There are a number of things that I don't agree with Romney on as well. However, if I wait for a candidate that shares exactly the same values that I have, I won't be casting a vote for a long time. I want my vote to count, and as such I have to determine if one candidate represents my interests more than the other... even though it may only be a slight difference.
Humbly - what I think the Libertarian cause is missing is that they've already shaped the agenda. Look at the message tonight - no social agenda; no abortion mention; limited foreign intervention; big focus on individual freedom, on self reliance, on limited government, etc. You may not believe these guys will follow through but at least they are singing your song (if only a verse or two).
If you are waiting for someone to only say exactly what you want you will be waiting a long, long time.
I did not watch tonight. But I did read that the GOP platform contains planks for no abortion (under ANY circumstances) and no gay marriage. How do you have these two rather controversial planks in your platform, yet NOT talk about it at your convention?
I love that dude that is running for Romney's vice president. I prob wont even vote for Obama now. What a great speech he gave. One of the best in convention history. And he looks younger than 42.
