Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

Two things:

1. The fact that he had championships before Jordan is kind of a moot/dumb point because his career was essentially a decade before Jordan's.

2. That interview with Bird was, again, before Jordan's prime.

Chronology doesn't build a good argument when we're talking about skill.
I could also make the argument that Jordan didn't win his championships until Bird and Magic got older, until Phil Jackson became the Bulls head coach and until Pippen and Grant hit their prime.

Except for the fact that most of them can't score outside 4 feet of the basket.
You obviously haven't seen highlights of Moses Malone's MVP season. The man could shoot from outside as well.

Sam Perkins and Laimbeer were also good outside shooters.

The game was also different overall back then and teams weren't averaging 35 three point shots a game like they do today.

Well one of the worst days in my professional career..and on a Monday at that.
Customer ordered a $328K system from me in June, the last two VSD units shipping Nov 3.
Well, I get a signed letter from the factory today that the VSD supplier can no longer get a down supplied part to make the VSD and they have obsoleted it. Poof just like that.
Dont know if it is Allen Bradley or what mfg.
To prototype a new VSD will result in a May 18, 2023 delivery..almost a full year from time of order.
This is a new plant and start up in January 2023.
Guess we could get them a rental/loaner..although we dont have one and the Engineer is retiring after start up next year anyway. He has just enough time to give order to someone else.

I say this will be yanked. I should be mad...but even if we keep it my commission is gone. Screw it..they can keep it.

Lost another $100K order from Bridgestone Golf in Covington last week due to 22 week delivery. Dude said If I came thru for him he would load me up with golf balls. I really wanted that one.

Allen-Bradley is the worst drive manufacturer in the industry. Most of them are made by another vendor and they just re-package them under their own name. I bought a bunch of their stuff and if I were your company I'd dump AB as a supplier of drives. We had a former AB field service engineer come to work for us and he bought four 2300 volt drives and 2 of them caught fire and caused major downtime. When they were barely a year old I had to buy a brick sized power supply for two of those drives to the tune of $8000 each.

Are your competitors able to source?

Sure same 20+week lead-time but probably even few weeks better. Just having the VSD component issue is the kicker. It would be highly unlikely they use the same exact VSD drive.
Plus this company has a $50K Year PM agreement at two other facilities, not to mention signing up for this new plant..Like money down a toilet.

Just guessing they are AB..they are OEM labeled..You know how it works.

If they are OEM labeled, I doubt they are AB drives unless they have changed their marketing lately. More than likely they are ABB or Siemens drives, but maybe China has entered the market now. I've been out of the game for nearly 5 years and things change fast these days.

Like I said..IDK and just threw out "AB or whatever".
The CCP drive would not surprise me . They are already using some CCP motors that start with an "H".
In my career it has gone from Westinghouse to Baldor, to Reliance to WEG Brazil to the freaking CCP. Airend castings and lite machining CCP, Enclosures I am sure are CCP. Who knows what else.
A freaking travesty what our leaders have allowed.
Of course you can buy a CCP Kaishan straight from their new factory in Bay Minette AL for half price. Half the people working there worked just down the street at Quincy at one time. Of course Quicny was brought out by Atlas Copco and now just paints them a different color and puts a different sticker on them...wait for it....made in CCP.

Early in my career, I bought Reliance motors because they were the best and longest lasting. Over the years, the morons in the purchasing department negotiated for cheaper prices and we got great products from China that we changed out every 2 months. You get what you ask for. At some point we need to get the bean counters out of the equation.

That's not so much an argument as it is, once again, just stating chronological fact. Lol.
