Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

My son and I love Mr. Ballen. We try and catch every episode. He has a podcast too if you didn't know.

He really is the best storyteller on the net. Due to a poster here on VN waaay back in the day, i became interested in the Missing 411 books and stories. He covers a lot of them, and a bunch of other crazy stuff too. Really cool dude, he was a SEAL and deployed to the 'Stan also...which i respect. As laid back as he sounds and looks, i would have never guessed that he knows dozens of ways to straight up end somebody even without a firearm lmao...seems like a dude you would go to Church with or bump into at the pizza place down the street. He does good things for veterans groups also which i really respect.

I found this article interesting. I did not read the original article posted in "Nature " but rather read a summary. Even in their retraction though, they do not discount the evidence that electrical resistance was dropped to zero or near zero levels...at room temp rather than absolute zero (-273 IIRC) or colder .. next to efficient fusion reactors, i can think of very few things that would have as great an impact on civilization as affordable superconductors....they would turn everything on its head. I hope the 9 scientists who authored the original study and paper are not FOS, and they are even more successful since they have progressed from their 2020 work:

The weather is getting a little frisky in parts of FL.

The political sentiment that will come out of this will be a sad state of affairs on top of the devastation. If that thing heads straight up the peninsula oh my. Not sure if it has ever happened.. Picking up energy from Gulf and cold on the east. Just speculating as IDK

Are you saying the politics will make it so that the state of Florida won't get any federal help?

Looking that way already., at least with state/Fed cooperation. The left will mock the right's deniability of man made CC..The uglies will say it even justified. But this needs to be taken to another thread.

First time in years..Had a couple of Corn Dogs for lunch. Hope the smell stays for 12 more days.

Dang, Marcus. You ever work?

My next apartment complex isnt ready to start yet so i am helping a coworker on his job. Got a half dozen amigos to answer questions for and keep from doing dumb sheit instead of 60-100 when running wide open. My guys are framing in the arches at doorways and drop ceilings in a big 4000sf clubhouse. I already spraypainted the ceiling heights for each room on the floor, and scribed and cut the patterns for all the arches....now i pretty much can sleep an hour later than usual, diqk around most of the day, then cut out by 4pm... i am salaried with bonus for each project, so not punching a timeclock. Nice to not have my phone ringing all day, or have 8 different subs to keep up with payroll, materials, safety etc for.

This very rarely happens though...usually i have overlap between projects, so i will be framing a new complex while still having siding crew, window n door crew etc on the project i am trying to finish up. I am really enjoying not having that pressure right now lol...it has been nice. I dont even have a set of plans for my next job yet, so should have a couple more weeks on easy street.

The Key West cam at the buoy is still up, but the buoy is party under water and some of the metal fence around it just went down. The camera does well with ambient lighting, so you can tell the waves are much bigger than this afternoon. According to Zoom Earth the wind is over 50 MPH at Key West, and 120 around the eye. The AF has a C-130 over the Gulf west of Ft Myers. Sure are a lot of homes on low ground where the storm is projected to make landfall. Lots of interesting perspectives these days with streaming cams, Zoom Earth, and flight trackers - the C-130 is the most tracked plane on Flightradar24 right now ... we'd probably have it beat if TN had another coaching search underway, though.

Looks like people who built on "outer banks", reefs, sandbars, or whatever you call them around Cape Coral are going to take a big hit. According to Zoom Earth, that's where the eye is, and wind around the eye is like 155 mph.
