LSU looks like dogcrap at USCjr....wow. Kelly sucks just like most folks knew when he was hired. He will get fired in a year or 2 if they keep underachieving. Cant keep having top 5 or 6 recruiting classes and losing 3 or 4 games a year. I am pulling for them to beat the Cocks today (bc Beamer is a dbag like Mizzou's coach) but they are getting handled on both LOS by an inferior team so far...

Lmao...its 17-0 cocks 2mins into the 2nd quarter. Kelly getting fired man.

I still firmly believe there is no such thing as a "proven" coach. A few are definitely better than others and seem destined for success; but overall history seems to say that coaching records more often reflect success based on when all the parameters align, and "great" coaches often flop when they go from one environment to another.

Memphis just scored another TD to go up 20-3. AT FSU lmao... Norvell might get sheetcanned after this 0-3 start.

USCjr lost their QB so LSU probably comes back to win in 2nd half. Their defense is horrific....but LSU can score points. Hope they win it

That’s where I’m confused. Novell is a good coach. To do what he did at Memphis was nothing short of a miracle. I’m wondering if it’s nil or admin that’s becoming more relevant than the coach towards the success of the program. If I remember correctly, looking at the nil rankings correlates with programs having success.

It's always in the variables and intangibles because in the end almost everything is based on teamwork. It's an old cliché; but when it's about teamwork, the weakest link is the key. It not necessarily the coach, but if the pieces don't meld together properly, it's not going to work. The collegiate coaching world recently got a couple of other huge variables tossed in, too - NIL and the portal. Now there are even other skillsets involved beyond the normal recruiting, teaching, molding, and directing. I'd tend to bet that Saban looked at it all and decided he didn't need all this new crap to deal with - things that go beyond coaching but have to be managed to make the coaching work.

Johnny Majors did well coaching at Pitt, and was mediocre here. Doug Dickey worked well here and flopped at FL. Doug Dickey and Bill Battle were iffy as coaches but both were successes as ADs. Fulmer was pretty good as a coach, but not so much as an AD. It just doesn't seem to mean that everything transfers well from one place to another, and success is not guaranteed. That's not to say that it makes sense to go buy a Butch Jones and think you're going to be successful though.

Coach Hype was much less heralded than Norvell or even Billy Napier. Look who is on top there? Lots of truth in your post.

Fuente left Norvell a hell of a foundation at Memphis. For his first 3 sessons at Memphis, Norvell slightly underperformed Fuente's last 2. Just like at FSU, it took until Y4 to take that next step.

Norvell benefitted from coaching disarray at Miss St, Ole Miss, Ark, and Tenn to land several P5 caliber skill position players...

Fuente is another anomaly. I thought he was going to kill it at VA Tech. I’m just glad I’m not responsible for hiring coaches because I would be run out of town on a rail.

Went with the wife to the grocery store, dropped her off and I went to park. When I went in I saw her walking down an isle and thought I’d cut her off. She walked right past me without seeing me sooo I thought I’d be playful and gave her a little pinch on the bottom and said boo. She screamed and kicked me in the junk.

Stop shopping with the wife

FSU lore now includes a guy named Owen Tree ... seems like a good Seminole name.

My bottom 3 vertebrae are fused (L1 thru L3) with titanium rods and screws. Had 70% impingement of the sciatic nerve and at times it was absolutely unbearable. Best wishes for a quick recovery bud. Glad to hear Dinks back is doing better too.
Thanks Marcus. Yeah you were in a lot rougher shape than I am for sure. The pain has eased a bit to where I can move around and it just aches instead of shooting pain. Probably a week to go seeing no pain but light duty for 6 wks after surgery. Lucky for me light duty is exactly how I roll

What exactly is the process? Cortisone injections helped me the one time I had them - Medicare doesn't cover anymore. I had ablation a couple of times which really didn't help much; the first time was better than the second. In my case the spacers are shot, there's some arthritis, and I have scoliosis - altogether it's shortened me a couple of inches and added pain - never debilitating - just hurts.

For me it is called nerve decompression. The left side nerves at L3-L4 and L4-L5 were getting pinched off due to desiccated discs closing the gap and arthritic bone growth in the facet joints. The procedure is called a laminectomy however this surgeons version doesn’t remove the whole backside of the vertebrae and leave the spinal canal exposed to achieve decompression. Instead he basically dremeled around the nerve exit areas from the spinal canal to relieve the pressure on them.

This was my 1st procedure. And a discectomy / trimmed the bulges on the others. It helped for a while man and is generally a successful procedure with relief from what i have learned. I went right back to laying brick and block all day soon after though. Recovery wasnt bad either honestly. More involved back surgeries are different though and outcomes can vary greatly. I am very, very thankful for getting some relief on the 2nd one. Some guys are screwed for life.
