After pondering on it on the way back home ...
The good news is we won, gutted out an SEC win against a rival when we didn’t play well and very easily could have lost, winning and finding a way to win was huge because a loss would have most assuredly derailed the rest of our season.
The bad news is we really didn’t look like a really good football team, way way too many penalties, missed assignments, overthrows, drops, play calls and just plain poor execution all around on offense. The defense is having to carry the load for the offense right now for certain.
I’m not sure why everyone keeps drilling Napier and calling him Sunbelt Billy because he’s beaten Heuple 1 out of 3 and very easily could have and should have won the other 2. UF isn’t near as talented or deep as they are used to being and are still pushing us to the limit. Napier isn’t a bad football coach at all, you can knock his recruiting efforts in my opinion, but not his X’s and O’s, he’s taken a well below average team and damn near beat our best teams that we’ve had in quite awhile.
We won and that’s good, but we better get better or we aren’t going to reach our potential for the season. Just how I see it.
