We had just squared the ledger at 17-17 when I posted that. I believe in the grit of this team. Imagine we didnt start this game on the road in THE worst possible way and go down 14-0 like 4mins in...we would have beat Vandy by 30. Thats by 30 WITHOUT scoring on the last drive when we took our foot off the gas. Could have won by 36.

Sampson broke the UT record for most rushing yards in a season today. He’s had the single-season record for most rushing TD’s for weeks now and for total TD’s since last week.

Sampson already had the season TD record, and would have broken the season yardage mark in our bowlgame even if we lost this game.

However...IF we lost this game after spotting them 14 points, 7 of which were squarely on Sampson things would be WAY different. If we lost this game, fans would remember that Sampson broke both those records in arguably the best season ever by a UT running back....BUT fans would also SURELY remember that starting with Alabama that Sampson fumbled 3 in consecutive games and they were all backbreakers, before fumbling again today at our own 25 yardline resulting in another 7 points. The fumble vs Bama was 18 yards from the endzone after gaining a 1st down. Literally took 7 points off the board. The Kentucky fumble was at the UK 22yardline. Likely another TD. The fumble at MSU was the worst. It was at the 7 yardline. Guaranteed TD from there against their defense. Sampson had 400 carries without a fumble...the had 3 horrible TD losing fumbles in 3 consecutive SEC games. Managed to break the streak vs UGA and last week vs the Sisters of the Poor School of the Blind. Then fumbles the ball away again as soon as SEC play resumed. Thats gonna cost him some $$$ in the draft.

Of course I am happy we have Sampson. Hes a very good back and has carried this team on offense this season. He has a problem now though...because the scouting report on him is to stand him up, then strip the ball while he fights for extra yardage. He is great at getting that extra yardage...RB coaches call it "plus 2" meaning once you are wrapped up or seemingly stopped, good backs can still get "plus 2" more yards after contact...Sampson is GREAT at this. Other than his elite burst accelerating, his ability to routinely get 3, 4, 5 yards after contact is also elite. Now though, every defense we play is going into the game believing they can force a fumble from ripping that ball out after contact. Its up to Sampson to secure the ball with both hands and make sure it doesnt happen again. He almost tarnished his legacy today by NOT using both hands.

John Williams is awesome. He has composed the scores for so many great movies. The Star Wars movies, the Indiana Jones movies, Jaws, Superman, Jurassic Park.... We did a John Williams tribute circle drill when I was in POTS. Playing his music was fun.

Right?!?

I am conversational, not fluent though. Do well speaking with the guys at work, with an occasional Spanglish/English word mixed in. Speaking to the women is much, much harder because they talk so fast. That was great though. Better than the clowns we had for last weeks game by a mile. Its funny that both dudes were excited lol. While the first guys screaming 6 more, the other dude screams 86 yards!! Haha. Gonna show that to my guys at work tomorrow.
