Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

The top half of the bracket which we are in is loaded. The bottom half where UGA plays is a cakewalk. It is what it is.

Slice said he heard they are doing away with the Conf Champs seeding 1-4 automatically next year. Thats a step in the right direction. Just seeding the 12 teams based on team strength/record the day after the conference champ games (today). In that scenario, we would have a home playoff game today and not have Clemson and Boise seeded above us...which is ridiculous in both cases. We beat the fool out of Clemson 2 years ago with Milton at QB and a MUCH worse defense that still almost shut them out. We were MUCH bigger on both lines, and MUCH faster at the skill positions. That gap...between us and them...is way bigger right now than it was then. We would beat Clemson 30 something to 6 or maybe 7. I am not sure they could score a TD on us though. Anyone doubts this...watch the tape from the last time we played them 2 years ago WITHOUT Hooker. It was men against boys. Just like UGA held them to 3 points this season.

Oregon got the shaft, too. Georgia has a way easier path to the finals. If Beck plays, UGA is a lock to come out of the bottom half of the bracket. Oregon will have to beat us AND texas to get to the Championship game. Crazy

Great interview. Sampson is the man. If yall remember, Chris Doering was a dominant WR at Flarda as a player. He has been extremely positive about the VOLS for the whole Hype Era though. He picked us at 10-2 and playoffs to start the season...publicly on record. Shoot, I had us at 9-3 back then. He is the rare Flarda guy thats actually classy and cool.

Tennessee freshmen who can redshirt (14)

- VQ

List of guys that can redshirt and add to our 25 class with 4 more years of eligibility. Playoffs do not count against redshirt games played.

Edit: apparently they deleted the list. Basically every offensive lineman, every Dlineman except Jordan Ross, WR Staley who is gonna likely get lots of PT in the playoffs now that he is Slot WR2 behind Squirrel due to Nimrod leaving, LB Spillman same boat due to Jalen Smith leaving...14 dudes with redshirts which is great

PSA: Nerd stuff incoming.

Over the last 10 years in the SEC, only half of eventual starting OL get their first starter minutes before their RS-JR or SR year. 9% break in as FR, 24% as SO/RS-FR, 17% as JR/RS-SO, and 26% as SR/RS-JR, and 24% don't start until they're RS-SRs. The trend is pretty consistent across the FBS, and the numbers hold up for the likes of Bama / Georgia / etc. as well.

If we consider 2022 Heupel / Ellarbee's first shot at real recruiting class, those guys wouldn't hit that RS-JR / SR benchmark until next year.

2022 / JR (Expect to contribute in 2025):
Addison Nichols: Starter at Arkansas (2024)
Brian Grant: TBD (37 snaps this year)
Masai Reddick: TBD (0 snaps)
Maurice Clipper: Gone

2023 / SO (Expect to contribute in 2026):
Sham Umarov: TBD (66 snaps)
Ayden Bussell: TBD (62 snaps)
Trevor Duncan: TBD (8 snaps)
Vysen Lang: Gone (44 snaps)

2024 / FR (Expect to contribute in 2027):
Jesse Perry: TBD (72 snaps)
Max Anderson: TBD (47 snaps)
William Satterwhite: TBD (45 snaps)
Bennett Warren: TBD (40 snaps)
Gage Ginther: TBD (19 snaps)
Jeremias Heard: TBD (8 snaps)

I also want to note, we had 4/6 (66%) of our freshman OL and 3/4 (75%) of our sophomores get 40+ snaps. The SEC averages for those years are 37% and 47% respectively.

All this to say, yes - we haven't had Ellarbee recruits break into the starting lineup. That said, given the way OL progress in the SEC, you wouldn't really expect to see that happen until next year. Granted, the 2022 crop doesn't look especially close, but both the 2023 and 2024 groups are ahead of schedule in terms of snap counts, and the 2024 group in particular looks like one of the best freshmen groups in the country.

This is very interesting regarding the narrative that Coach Ellarbee doesnt develop Olinemen. We totally whiffed in the 23 class recruiting Oline...but other than that it looks like he has done a decent job. Last years 2024 Oline class was Stellar...and most of those guys played as freshmen this year as much as possible really while keeping their redshirts. Food for thought.

Yall watching the BasketVols?!?!

Milicic just threw a NASTY lob for a Phillips dunk...of a blocked shot.

Edit: its on ESPN nationally, and youtube. UT vs Miami
