There’s too many well respected posters on VQ going down the same path as the fellas here. These guys spend too much time posting and appeared to have come with too much good info in the past. With this I call BS on the troll job theory

If it's not Gruden. He has NO choice but to address the Grumors regardless of who the #2 is. I think most Grudenites could get behind someone else if they had to. He really, as far as I'm concerned has no choice.

If it's not Gruden I will support the coach until they lose my support but I'll be disappointed initially for sure.

It's happening. Think about it, if Currie didn't have Gruden he wouldn't allow this circus to continue. It only puts egg on his face for not dispelling the Grumors if it's a different coach.

He stated he would not comment on the coaching search until announcing the new coach...

Exactly. Gruden not shutting it down on Mike and Mike and his comment on Seattle radio after telling them not to bring up the UT job. Why would he say not be bring it up unless there's something to it? There's absolutely no way he's trolling us considering hit ties, his wife's ties, and his son currently attending.

he's thinking it not gruden ... someone currently coaching, and that negotiations with a current sitting coach won't begin until after season is over.

at least that's what it sounds like.

I don't buy that. There is no NCAA rule against negotiating a contract with a sitting coach.

To me the fact that Gruden hasn't shot this down publicly is telling. If he had said no I think his agent would say something. His agent has been very very quiet.

If I recall correctly he was the one that publicly denied it last time.

I agree with you that he does. But It he misses, then they will fall to the very bottom of the list out of urgency.

I think its happening because at this time any other year we'd be hearing of leaks in national media of us meeting with coaches of other schools. We haven't really heard much of that at all.

Yep. But just think, say Gruden is allowing this to continue to stroke his ego or build his name. If that's the case and Currie hasn't come out and said "we aren't pursuing Jon Gruden" to save face then he's going to look kind of foolish regardless of who he hires.

Agreed, but the only two VFL names that are consistently mentioned are Tee Martin and Dale Jones.

Keep in mind, many of the local media and quasi-insiders covering this search have connections to former players and coaches. They're simply more likely to hear if a VFL has been contacted than if a non-VFL has been contacted.

If Gruden is indeed assembling a staff, he has likely contacted plenty of non-VFLs as well.

This is what I feel as well. If he was not coming or had no interest I feel he would have squashed it by now.

I also would include Phil in his interview stating he had no idea who was in the mix and wasn’t part of the search .
