I think Pittman would be worth keeping, he seems to have done a great job. Can't complain with McKeefrey either although Gruden probably has his own guy in mind. Hinshaw maybe for the recruiting?
Edit, didn't realize we were talking about interims coaches... I was thinking staff retention.
I would rather that not be the case. As it stands Graham is viewed in a positive light by the fans. But the guy has only been a RB coach so far. Not sure I want him taking over the HC in an interim basis to see something tarnish what could be an up and coming career in coaching for the guy.
I understand what you saying. No matter what I hear, I'm going to be skeptical about it until there's a press conference where Gruden is being introduced as our head coach.I get that you're excited. I've been around here long enough to have seems dozens and dozens of "done deals" from "insiders" that ended up never being close to reality. Wait until things are done before you start chirping.
I think he is one of the top two coaches on staff right now.
If all happens as it is likely to happen, we are scarcely 10 days away from the end of the most embarrassing era in UT football history!
As far as interim, as bad as I hate to say it, but Chaney has seniority and usually the interim is the guy that has been there the longest. Not AT ALL saying I think that is what is going to happen, but have heard that scenario a couple times from those smarter than I when it comes to this.
So any ideas about who Gruden would bring in for his OC job if he desires? I don't think it will be his brother Jay simply b/c of the opportunity he has to pursue a HC..I can't think of a particular OC,so what are your thoughts?
He keeps Chaney. He then tells Chaney he is going to sit there with a clipboard and take notes as Gruden calls all the offensive plays so that when Chaney gets a new job he won't call a pass play on freaking 3rd and 1.
Chaney should be comfortable with this since he already has done it under Kiffin. He keeps Chaney. He then tells Chaney he is going to sit there with a clipboard and take notes as Gruden calls all the offensive plays so that when Chaney gets a new job he won't call a pass play on freaking 3rd and 1.
Down from what # originally? How many were committed to come?
I mean it is painfully obvious Dooley is gone next year, probably in roughly 10 days. Hard to imagine recruits getting excited to visit given our performance the last couple years and the almost certainty they do not know for sure who their HC will be.
I understand why people believe Gruden wouldn't coach college but it's hilarious when you see people arguing about why he would be a bad hire.
Nobody knows if he would be successful at the college level but if you wouldn't be willing to give him a shot, you're crazy.
