I actually haven't heard anything new. Some have heard that Dooley will be pressed to either resign or get fired this week, but they didn't know the reliability of it.

haha...he brought in guys he liked via free agency and by drafting....my bucs haven't recovered since...when you draft as high my bucs were you cannot miss on guys and he missed all the time...plus being the way he is he wouldn't like the 20 hour NCAA rule...hence why he loves the NFL

So your Bucs have been good for a few yearsand he won a Superbowl with that team. How quickly we forget the McKay years and after. Honestly, you should be used to losing, unless you are too young and in that case you should go read some history on your franchise.

For Jon Gruden Super Bowl Week was a circus as he faced the team he had coached a year previously the Oakland Raiders. Gruden knew the Raiders offense so well, that he at times portrayed Raiders Quarterback Rich Gannon in practice, using the same single calls. However, the Buccaneers defense had its back against the wall early as Brad Johnson threw an interception on the Bucs first possession. However, the defense rose to the occasional and held the number one offense in the NFL to a Field Goal. The Bucs would quickly tie the game on their next possession. Knowing the Raiders offense would begin to pay off as two Dexter Jackson interceptions to give the Bucs a 6-3 lead. While the Bucs defense was shutting down the Raiders offense the Bucs offense was starting to break down the Raiders defense as a long drive led to a Mike Alstott Touchdown. The Buccaneers would pad their lead to 20-3 as Keenan McCardell caught a Touchdown pass in the final minute of the first half. The Bucs defense had completely taken the Raiders out of the game by allowing just three first downs 62 yards total offense. The Bucs would get off to a strong start in the second half as they expended their lead to 27-3 on a 14-play 89-yard time consuming Touchdown drive. With the Raiders in panic mode the Bucs scoring defense would put down the clamps as Dwight Smith picked off Rich Gannon for a 44-yard interception return to give the Bucs a 34-3 lead. However, the Raiders would not give up as they scored three touchdowns to take get back with in two touchdowns at 34-21. With time winding down the Bucs defense would again rise to the occasion as Derrick Brooks return an interception 44 yards for a Touchdown to give the Bucs a 41-21 lead with 1:18 left. The return by Brooks sent the Buccaneers into celebration mode as Dexter Jackson was voted MVP for his two early interceptions that set the trend for the game. However, their defense was not done scoring as Dwight Smith returned his second interception 50 yards for a Touchdown that put an exclamation point on the Buccaneers 48-21 Super Bowl Victory.

And in my opinion, if Dungy had made it to the Superbowl and Gruden had still been the Raiders coach the Raiders would have won, easily. Be grateful you had him.

Did Dungy win a Superbowl with that team?

No he did not but would have if in 2000 if that bert emmanual call goes the way it should that defense was just dominate

First off, blame the Glazers for your Vucs going down.
Second, if you we're truly a Bucs fan, you would remember all the draft pics Tampa gave up to get CJG.
As for the 20 hour rule, every coach wishes they had more time with the players. He will work just as hard away from the kids as he will with them.

no the glazers put bruce allen and gruden in charge of the team and after winning the SB brought in guys like charlie garner he was washed up, tim brown he was old...gruden likes veteran guys cause he doesn't have patience with the young ones...after winning the SB my bucs had 2 losing seasons in a row he only hit on one draft pick that being davin joseph

Its 20 times harder to keep a NFL team relevant unless you have a franchise QB like Aaron Rogers, Peyton, and Tom Brady. Most NFL coach live and die by one player. The system Gruden worked in Tampa was more of a college style. He tried to get talent every where. Instead of 7 draft picks in the NFL think of him getting 25 draft picks in recruits of College.

Gruden runs a west coast offense dink and dunk and no no no I saw him with what he could do in drafts it was terrible have you ever seen who my bucs drafted from 2003-2007???

I've been a bucs fan since 96 I know plenty of the history and if you think tim brown and jerry rice rich gannon type of offense would have beaten a dungy lead defense of sapp, brooks, rice, lynch, barber you're crazy

Uh...Brad Johnson. Again consider yourself fortunate.

I think CDD will end up being a very good coach in college. His problem is that he hasn't learned HOW to win. He needs to go be a coordinator some place, then get a HC job again at a mid tier school, and learn.

I don't disagree with that. He could be decent in the ACC/Big East/MTN West world.

I honestly think he's tailor made for the Recruiting Coordinator position. Something requiring a lot of details and organization.

Also, I'm not sure if he doesn't have a higher ceiling as an AD than he does as a coach...

All that said, each point supports him moving on. So, I'm in for Gruden. I still feel like we're drawing for 1 or 2 cards left in the deck, but hopefully the odds are better than that.

 Can you and your girlfriends prove any of the nonsense you've been posting? Yeah, I thought not.

Fonz at 12:14 a.m. you posted your first post in the thread. You have stated for people to look back and see that you have not attacked anyone, that it was all in print,

I rest my case.

It never cease to amaze me,Oldvol, the people that come on here just to make fun of the credible posters but yet they bring nothing to the discussion..Instead they resort to name-calling and troll-like behavior..Drives me bonkers.

Desperately need to hire Gruden or a similar big name coach that can bring some excitement to the program. Everyone is so apathetic about UT football right now. And honestly it's hard not to be. The time management at the end of the first half last night was atrocious.

If you want to bash him for not being smart in drafting and free agency in Tampa (which I still think falls on the GM), you have to give him credit for building a Super Bowl team in Oakland. Where were they when he took over? Where were they when he left?

The coaches acted like they didn't have a clue..oh wait..they didn't.
