So I am gonna step away from the Dr.Phil end of this thread for a moment, is the new word this morning that he declined? BTW.. Boro, Jay, OV thanks for the info. Must be time for the day shift.

The mistake that has been made is the fact several have jumped the gun on this thing. It's one thing to post that contact has been made and there is mutual interest, it's another thing when it's posted that it is very close to being a done, that is just not right. Got a bunch of people believing if was going to be done soon, there are still talk going on but it's early.

Boro-vol, LittleDTO, and Smokeyhuntsgators...have you heard of a decline from Gruden? If so, is it lack of interest, feeling of improperness due to Dooley not officially gone yet, or not offered by an official?

Everything like this has ups and downs, like I said I am reserving judgement until an official announcement is made. I can handle Gruden saying no easier than I think I can handle another year of Dooley. Almost certain I don't have to worry about the latter barring a miracle.

Due to the landscape of the SEC and college football today and the fact we must recruit nationally. I feel that we will be unable compete "year in and year out" with FL, LSU, GA, AL or any school with great instate talent. Our best chance to compete would be to have a polarizing figure as a coach to help attract the best players. Outside of great instate talent Tennessee has everything else. I think Dooley has done a good job recruiting but not as good as the schools mentioned aboved. I guess I'm trying to make the arguement that it would be more important that Tennessee have a star coach for recruiting purposes than maybe FL, TX, or LSU.
