She says the athletic department plays by a different set of rules typically. One that would allow a direct hire without normal interviewing and even posting procedures. (I.E Dooley when Kiffin bolted)

In short, UT can hire who they want, how they want, when they want, in this specific case. Hope this helps.

My dad doesn't have Internet access (I know) and he calls me every morning and asks what are the insiders saying today. It's hilarious he asks by name. He has a friend that laughs at him for believing this. He told me last night "I'm going to drive to his house when this goes down to see his face". He is a grudenite.

:hi: Can't wait until this happens. I've been trying to get my bro-in-law to be all-in with Gruden coming to UT, but he doesn't want to be let down if it falls through...says he won't get excited until he sees it on the ESPN ticker. When it does, I'm going to pause the TV, take a pic of it with my phone, and ask him if he believes now. HA!!

Good morning to all the Grudes and Grudettes out there. Happy Thanksgiving. I appreciate Freep's post reminding us what today is for and how our founding father's recognized the need for prayer in this country. I see where SBV in the cliff notes is calming down the its happening in the next few days talk. He stated the job had to be opened a certain time by state law.

Did anybody remind him that DD was hired in 4 days?

If the rule does apply, maybe Dooley was actually fired after the MSU game as some have suggested.

Didn't he say anything could happen and things could be shortened ? Believe someone was questioned that same thing last night.

I think that the info in OSV's post should be put in the cliff notes to answer that question about the hiring practice regs as far as the AD is concerned.

Lots of discussion on that topic. The only thing I can figure if sbv is right the only difference between the two hires is one resigned and the other was relieved. Can't see how that would matter but that's it. Unless they got an exception due to the emergency timing due to signing day.
