Are you fronting the money? Easier said than done, my friend.

If they set up a donation campaign and people knew their donation would go to hiring Gruden, they could easily raise a lot of money for the cause (including a donation from me).

They should follow Obama's (and no, I am not a fan) campaign from 2008, where he made a killing off of small donations.

I heard him say that and in thinking about it he may be option #1 after Gruden. He would be available immediately and would be willing to sign a incentive laden contract that would benifit UT.

Great. Another hire made baseed on who will accept our lowball offer. It worked out so well three years ago, let's try it again.

Why do people say this when its been said that the bigger boosters will fit the bill. And in all honesty, if you go to the games, order ppv and buy UT gear then in a small way, you're fronting the money.

I've read enough to say the chances of Gruden coming to UT are now less than 1% (I thought they may be 5% before). Reading Skeeter's conversation in the Vonn Bell thread today is a real eye opener.

In this case we would get a winner on the field at a bargain but would probably take a hit with some fans on the moral of the hire.

So Peterson is a bad choice in the bible belt cause he's into Scientology or Catholicism or whatever but a POS like Petrino would be ok? Lmao geeze!!

Honestly, I've heard the deal is hanging on by a string. I'm in the camp that believes there may be too many NFL options for Gruden next year. San Diego...Philly...Dallas...places he could win with what he has.

I'm not trying to be a debbie downer, I just think these monumental changes:
1. Changing the AD/admin culture
2. Fundamentally changing your philosophy on coaches pay
3. Dealing with a lame duck head coach in the process

are hard to do overnight. If the first two changes are made, even without Gruden, UT fans will be big winners in the end.

Are you privy to any of the talk that ESPN's exclusive contract means restrictions on coaching NFL teams to ease fears teams may have giving him the access he is given as a MNF analyst?

I'm pretty sure that only applies year to year. He could go to an NFL team at the start of the next season if he leaves MNF.

Haha amen. This POV cracks me up on Peterson. I'm not going to get into religion but the word hypocrisy comes to mind when it comes to those views on Peterson.

Also: Bruce Pearl.

Peterson would be an awesome hire but he's not going to come.

This thread is awesome, but Grudes is looking bleak. I say keep it going as the Official UT coaching search thread sponsored by Jon Gruden

No he isn't going anywhere. He's basically a God in Boise. Or should I say a Tom Cruise :)
