My original information from someone in the circle that would know, was just this:

1. Dooley was notified after the MSU game that he would not return for 2013. He was told he could handle the remainder of the season on his terms. If he wanted to leave then he could, or he could coach UT out and leave after. If he wanted to go ahead announce it, and coach out the year, that was fine too. They gave him all the latitude in the world.


2. At the same time it was stated that the " job is Grudens'. Since then I've been told details about an agreement in principle. Gruden would jot acceot the position until one is publicly available. He likes Dooley and did not want to be seen to be angling for somebodies job behind the scenes.

I think where you have trouble with my info is where I have "connected the dots" to piece things together. My assertion that Dooley being let go was a condition for Gruden is based upon my understanding that no job would be accepted while he was a sitting coach. Nobody directly said that to me, but the conclusion can logically be leapt to. If you have information to the contrary I can understand your skepticism.

I'd love to tell you where this info came from, but I can't right now. When this plays out, no matter which way it goes, maybe I can in private. Maybe then you'll understand.

Good post. Your good people as I said before and I thank you for the post. My stance that DD doesn't know is based on a number of things most have already been posted.

All you say about JG agreeing but not willing to do it publicly until DD is officially gone is very believable without agreeing that DD has already been told.

So we aren't very far from a agreeing with each other!

I'm totally fine with skepticism. The Gotcha game, and hostility from others, is what bothers me. I'm not personally invested in anyone else's opinion....I'm not here to lobby or convince.

What I posted here is completely consistent with what I posted a month ago. This was my original info, from my first hand source. I have spoken with others in here with different sources that corroborated mine, and brought additional info to the table that I believe.

So a contract gives a person 5mil if there aren't retained but once they are told they aren't going to be retained they have to keep quiet in order to get that 5mil??

I can attest to the fact that this is not some elaborate hoax perpetuated by a few people. I have heard too much from too many completely unrelated people...almost simultaneously..I might add.

HART: Derek, we are not retaining you after this year. Let's negotiate a lower buyout than $5 million and we will let you go now.

DD: He!! no, I want my $5 million.

HART: Okay then, have it your way. Enjoy coaching the rest of the season as a lame duck. We will fire you after the last game.
