Golden has not been the savior at the U that they had hoped he would. Strong, while a good up and coming coach has a 9 - 0 record against opponents with a 14 and 41 record. He's only beaten two teams with a winning record. True....more than Dooley has won, but nontheless, very underwhelming so far. I dobelieve some day he will be a very good coach, not just now.
Bruin, would this make sense?
HART: Derek, we are not retaining you after this year. Let's negotiate a lower buyout than $5 million and we will let you go now.
DD: He!! no, I want my $5 million.
HART: Okay then, have it your way. Enjoy coaching the rest of the season as a lame duck. We will fire you after the last game.
Beat me to it Nuclear!
"WalterFootball.com's Charlie Campbell reports that Gruden has been looking into assistants around the NFL to see about their potential availability after the season."
Obviously they left out - "for his staff at UT".
Gruden 2012
Even Jimmy Hyams knows and has said he believes that Dooley has done things to jeopardize his buyout. Honestly your persistence is noble but your willing ignorance is boring me.So a contract gives a person 5mil if there aren't retained but once they are told they aren't going to be retained they have to keep quiet in order to get that 5mil??
That your stance?
Maybe but that wouldn't explain his willingness to keep all that hush hush. I said yesterday that if he has been told and he has been hush hush he deserves a huge deal of respect for it.
somewhere in these threads there was mention of Gruden not being able to coach in the NFL due to his access for MNF, almost a non compete.
Any validity to that?

He would be advised by his lawyers to not do anything that would be seen as insubordination or anything else that could give an argument to being terminated for cause.
But, he might be doing subtle things to get terminated earlier like making bad scholarship offers.
Finally, it is in his best interest to be a good soldier on the way out, because he probably hopes to continue coaching DIV III in the future.
There could be a lot of reasons.

Good post. Your good people as I said before and I thank you for the post. My stance that DD doesn't know is based on a number of things most have already been posted.
All you say about JG agreeing but not willing to do it publicly until DD is officially gone is very believable without agreeing that DD has already been told.
So we aren't very far from a agreeing with each other!
