I have a question. What happened to the "anniversary" stars that used to appear below the avatars?

Anyone know?

Golden has not been the savior at the U that they had hoped he would. Strong, while a good up and coming coach has a 9 - 0 record against opponents with a 14 and 41 record. He's only beaten two teams with a winning record. True....more than Dooley has won, but nontheless, very underwhelming so far. I dobelieve some day he will be a very good coach, not just now.

You know, we used to throw around the term "signature win" with Dooley. I was in Miami for work last week, and the feature column was all about how Golden was still looking for his signature win at the U. Golden is a guy I think I would like and want to get behind... Just like Dooley was. I know he was dealt a turd of a hand at Miami but I have the feeling that three or four years from now, the same story would be written at UT.

I can attest to the fact that this is not some elaborate hoax perpetuated by a few people. I have heard too much from too many completely unrelated people...almost simultaneously..I might add.

Thanks Lex.

I see the Machine Gruden is garbage dude has shown up..Seriously, what the hell did Gruden ever do to him for him to hate him so much? Steal his girlfriend in HS or steal his steal his lunch?:jpshakehead:

Combing a staff for TN!

Beat me to it Nuclear! :)

"WalterFootball.com's Charlie Campbell reports that Gruden has been looking into assistants around the NFL to see about their potential availability after the season."

Obviously they left out - "for his staff at UT".

Gruden 2012

Bruin, would this make sense?

HART: Derek, we are not retaining you after this year. Let's negotiate a lower buyout than $5 million and we will let you go now.

DD: He!! no, I want my $5 million.

HART: Okay then, have it your way. Enjoy coaching the rest of the season as a lame duck. We will fire you after the last game.

Maybe but that wouldn't explain his willingness to keep all that hush hush. I said yesterday that if he has been told and he has been hush hush he deserves a huge deal of respect for it.

somewhere in these threads there was mention of Gruden not being able to coach in the NFL due to his access for MNF, almost a non compete.

Any validity to that?

i would like to know how much contact goes on between Haslem and Gruden, currently.

So a contract gives a person 5mil if there aren't retained but once they are told they aren't going to be retained they have to keep quiet in order to get that 5mil??

That your stance?
Even Jimmy Hyams knows and has said he believes that Dooley has done things to jeopardize his buyout. Honestly your persistence is noble but your willing ignorance is boring me.

Vol Nation CDhristmas Wish List:

1. Gruden to Vols
2. Saban to Browns
3. Dooley to Browns or UTC AD
4. If #1 does not happen, then Cheek to Siberia
5. If #4, Hart to follow.

Can we go ahead and open our gift??

He would be advised by his lawyers to not do anything that would be seen as insubordination or anything else that could give an argument to being terminated for cause.

But, he might be doing subtle things to get terminated earlier like making bad scholarship offers.

Finally, it is in his best interest to be a good soldier on the way out, because he probably hopes to continue coaching in the future.

There could be a lot of reasons.

No sources here. I would go of my common sense here to think that a Super bowl winning coach would not sign a contract that would prohibit himself from returning to the game if the oppportunity was right. JMO p.s. was not saying you dodn't have any common sense so please don't take it that way

This is not a far-fetched stance...many organizations have "severance pay" packages that are contingent upon the dismissed employee following a specific set of rules upon their departure. I work in a field where someone may be offered a severance package as long as they do not do anything to harm the organization during their departure. If they defy this agreement their severance will not be paid in full.

Sure but that wouldn't explain his willingness to keep all that hush hush. I said yesterday that if he has been told and he has been hush hush he deserves a huge deal of respect for it.

This is just speculation on my part, but I believe they mat have reached an agreement based upon rumors we've heard, that doing it this way turned out to be beneficial to both parties. I think maybe the AD has info he doesn't want to divulge, that would be damaging to Dooley in future job searches. It may be that this was worked out to look like Dooley resigned. I think there are several possibilities that could explain the way its being framed.

As for the recruiting question, I don't think it matters. Commits come and go after a coaching change....nobody will think anything of it.

FYI...Sal is doing things, and has done things, to jeopardize his buyout.

You can respect him for it. That is fine but he is just doing what he has to do. The stuff about his inquiry into the NC job came out right after that game for a reason.

Good post. Your good people as I said before and I thank you for the post. My stance that DD doesn't know is based on a number of things most have already been posted.

All you say about JG agreeing but not willing to do it publicly until DD is officially gone is very believable without agreeing that DD has already been told.

So we aren't very far from a agreeing with each other!

Hey.... we family again.... he he he
