Agree, But didn't he turn down the Gators?

I think it was reported that Florida never offered him but I did hear somewhere that he turned them down so who knows which is true. One thing that has been said is how much he loves Starkville. I know, who the hell would love Starkville but he does so it may take a lot a Benjamins to lure him away.

What if....an MOU is actually signed and Gruden wants to be here, but we are trying to make it look like Hart stepped in and sealed the deal. Not saying that is what is happening, but do imagine the possibility that Hart felt circumvented when the boosters started talking to Gruden.

I like how you think .. one can only hope :crossfingers:

Would make some sense with the things I have heard. I never thought about this angle.

I may get flamed but if we can't get Gruden or a big name, I'll take Mullen all day. He's been in the SEC a long time as a coordinator and HC and he's done a good job at MSU considering the level of talent he has. I agree with your pipe dreams, would love to have them but don't think its possible. I don't think Patterson can get us to compete for SECC. If TCU was in the SEC, he wouldn't be as highly regarded as he is now. Petrino, I think anyone that's read any of my post know my feelings on that POS. I wouldn't mind Stoops but I think he falls in the pipe dream category. I think if the big name guys say no, we will get Mullen or Strong. May not be exactly what we want as fans but both HUGE upgrades over Dools.

And let's look at this rationally... Maybe upgrade from CDD is all we need. We are a defense away from a 1-loss-year this year. The defense is making it look like we are a lot worse than we are.

Maybe we don't NEED a homerun hire, but just a GOOD coach to pull all the pieces together and get us back to where we are supposed to be.

(Disclaimer: The above point was in no way a CDD apology. Nor was it ant-Gruden.)

For the sake of discussion what if there has been a concerted effort to chill the Gruden talk regardless of whether he is still on the hook or not. What if this has been from the AD...and possibly both parties involved.

What if Gruden doesn't want it to look like he was the reason Dooley is let go? Just another angle.

Gruden info got out early and spread like wildfire.

So what time is the BOT meeting and what kinda news should we expect or hope for?

1 PM ET

They are voting on UT Athletics to report to the Vice Chancellor, Scott Rabenold instead of to Jimmy Cheeks. This proposal is ironically by Cheeks.

Actual item they will be voting on:

In 2010, the University realigned the reporting structure for the UT Knoxville Athletics Department so that it now reports to the Chancellor of UT Knoxville rather than to the President of the UT System. To align the reporting structure for the development efforts of the Athletics Department with the reporting structure for the Department as a whole, Chancellor Cheek proposed that athletics development personnel report through the UT Knoxville Vice Chancellor for Development rather than directly to the President of the Foundation. This new alignment will build strong collaboration between the academic and athletic fundraising teams at UT Knoxville. President DiPietro, on behalf of the University, and Johnnie Ray, on behalf of the Foundation, strongly support Chancellor Cheek’s proposal.

To accomplish this change in the reporting line, an Amendment to the Affiliation and Services Agreement, which was approved by the Board of Trustees is June 2011, is required. The proposed Amendment follows. In accordance with the terms of the Affiliation and Services Agreement, the proposed Amendment has been submitted to and approved by the Comptroller for the State of Tennessee.

MOTION:
That the proposed Amendment to the Affiliation and Services Agreement between the University and the University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc. be approved

I think this holds more water than anything. Regardless of how fast the fanbase wants Dooley out of town, nobody in this business wants to step on toes.
