Same here. I have loved following this thread from the beginning. I have only posted a couple times. Now the football forum seems boring and less friendly. The people on this thread make my day better. I honestly doubt we get Gruden, but I hope we do with all my heart. I'm just a pessimistic type, but I enjoy everyone's optimism on here a ton. I guess I'm trying to say thanks to you guys.

Your pessimism is understood. A hire like this is way outside the norm for UT athletics. But it is a new day. People that love this university and have the power to do something about it have said enough is enough.

Spoke to a friend of mine who works in the athletic office at Florida. She said they got wind last week that it's all but a done deal......and a huge driver behind it is Gruden's wife. Said she loves UT and the area (Capt. Obvious) but she has a loud voice in the room when it comes to the decision, but the Eagles and at least one other NFL team are in play who are going to make a serious push. The speculation on the other team was centered around the Cowboys, Chargers, and believe it or not, the NY Jets

Thanks for the info WACO. I hope you are right, and I do not think the Chargers and Cowboys will be a huge factor. This because, Jerry Jones has his eye on Sean Payton and Mike Holmgren. And the Chargers have their eye on Andy Reid. the Jets are not at the point I feel Gruden would want to take over, they are a disaster and have two good players on their entire team. The Eagles seem to be a big question mark, even though I feel he isn't a good fit this year. My feeling is the longer we do not hear an announcement after Dec. 17th, the more it means that NFL Teams are more if a possibility.

Pretty much. I was thinking they should do it, but at this point, no reason to. Dooley's done, Gruden's in, we have a Top 10 recruiting class by NSD, and O&W is a sell-out. Wonderful start to 2013.

I still believe they had some negotiating to do. Time will tell. I wouldn't be shocked to see things speed up either.

The good part is that if Gruden is directing any part of this it makes him obligated in many ways.

In a lengthy process, a milestone was reached.

I doubt any big name.coach goes to Dallas because Jerry Jones won't relinquish ANY power.
