If we do not get Gruden, you won't see Spart back here talking smack. If we do, I'll take whatever you guys can give, as I will be happy.
You haven't seen me call out many people about their gruden info. I have just always felt that he wouldn't take a step backwards, as considered by the coaching community, to chase after 18 yr olds to convince them to play football.

Good morning all. I have not made many postings lately as I have no sources to call on. But I do browse all day to find the latest. Some days are better than others; but at this time from all I read I am in the extremely hopeful mood. Hope to stay that way. Will continue to read and occasionally comment. These are going to be a long couple of weeks. Just have to keep the faith.

Check this site and tell us what you think.

So is this your cryptic way of confirming the information here? or just saying you'll be here to take your lumps - IF it happens?

Agreed. This thread isn't a pissing contest. It is just people telling info they've heard. A ton of the Gruden stuff has shown up here a week before being confirmed anywhere else.

I have been reading this thread religously from the very beginning. I haven't posted much because I am simply a fan with no real info.

I just wanted to say that whether we get him or not(and I think we do!) that this has been so much fun. I've really enjoyed all of you guys and gals. My days at work have not been so boring! I can't even read the regular football forum anymore. These are the folks I really think I could share a beer with. Thanks for the good times, everyone! Lets get Gruden!

Keep posting. Alot of the dialogue in here is Grudenites getting to know each other.

Maybe Gruden would like a chance to coach kids, instead of a bunch of Millionaires he has to try and find a way to motivate every game.. It is at least in a sense a purer form of the game.. Money has corrupted it too, just not to the point of the NFL yet..

Oh, it's nothing you'd be interested in. I'm a stupid Gator.

Those in this thread are much more accepting of others views. We have not been totally invaded by the children in the recruiting forum or the know it alls in the football forum yet. Tell us what you know. Would you become a UT fan if Gruden was coach?

I had an interesting convo related to this yesterday. There are some coaches that get tired of dealing with billionaire owners as well.

So question to everyone that has info, I have heard it stated Gruden's last day at MNF is Nov. 26th and I have also heard Dec. 17th (to finish out the year), Which is it?

My main concern is that I do not know if we would fire a coach and wait over 3 weeks (Dec. 17th) to announce a new one and then not have an official presser until 9 days (Dec. 26th) after that, it doesn't make sense. Can someone clarify this for me?

Also, have the players been told he is fired or not? The media says yes and some posters say yes. Others say no and the players for sure do not know, which is it?

No, not confirming. I don't have a contact in the know enough to confirm.
And you can track me down to lump me. I just gave my opinion as to why I didn't think it would happen.

My best guess...they have kept Dooley to finish contract negotiations with Gruden. I really believe it.

We are a big tent thread, Waco. We have people of all ethnicities, political views, religions. You are welcome here. It's all about the Gru.

That being said, spill it. :)

That and the sense of tradition in college football can be a reason to wake up in the morning. Jon Gruden has the chance to become a beloved head coach to the Tennessee Volunteers. I believe this fan base would welcome him with open arms. That is rare and a great opportunity.

Not looking to give a beating!

Just curious your take on all of this. As some others have stated I have enjoyed this thread more than any of the last 5 years on this board.

To be honest - and I think a few can confirm - that this thread is what this board was like when it started. People sharing like experiences and the common bond of being a Vol. Not the constant arguing and ankle biting that tends to be the FF.

I still have under 2K posts in the last 7 years - mostly due to the influx of irrational posters, so this thread had been awesome for me!

:hi:
