Yes, yes, and some more yes. We would get Jon Gruden for as long as he wants to stay and then transition to Jay Gruden who will be a NFL head coach. I'm okay with that. Especially if they keep Graham and bring Tee back to UT. Hells yeah!

Agreed

Yes I would be upset. Get him

Yes, but the University has to have some protections in place so he cannot leave it in a lurch like Kiffin. If Jay is the safety net, then you have to negotiate further protections in Jay's contract so they cannot both leave at the same time and totally screw you.

It is only reasonable for Jon to give something in exchange for the large investment the University would make in salary. It could even be a sliding scale--a greater buyout early sliding toward zero the longer he stays.

I cannot blame the University for requiring something, though.

Well, it's been good reading this morning but have to get some work done now. Will try and pick up during lunch. Go Vols!

My wife's boss is good friends with Cheek. They were at a party Saturday night after the game and Cheek was bad mouthing Dooley pretty bad. She said he hates Dooley.

Great story, I no.

Could be wrong about this,but....... Gruden has family here. If he leaves like Kiff, he knows this fan base will go crazy making life miserable on said family. I think he would handle it better than just burning this bridge to the ground.... for his family's sake.

His brother is doing just fine without Jon having to make deals to get him a job.

Jay's at a different point in his career. He's now pretty established as an OC in the NFL. When Gruden was asking before Jay was still breaking into the biz after being in the Arena League. He has a three-year deal now w/Cincy.

I could see a scenario where Jon is hired to coach the Vols and Jay is hired to coach the Browns. Would be pretty bizarre.

Since Hart pushed Sal on Dooley, I think it is safe to say the way this season has been on defense. Hart will not be the one making this hire, just the one who will get the credit for it.

Plus I don't think anyone cares who gets credit for it as long as it get done .

Maybe he won't come for that reason.

Al Golden makes no sense.

He built up Temple but he's been crappy at Miami. There are other coaches that have built up crappy programs that still haven't had the opportunity to showcase themselves at a bigger program. We know what Golden can do at a bigger program and it appears to be nothing. I like him and everything but if he can't win in the ACC at Miami, I don't see why he would win here.

I am not saying that I want Golden because I don't. But, Golden came into a similar situation at Miami as Dooley and maybe worse. There has been a black cloud over the program because of the prior recruiting violations, and I believe I read that half of his team are freshmen and sophomores with most being starters. I don't think it is as bad as you say.
