Official Jon Gruden Thread VII

If we don't have Gruden or another big hire, then Hart is as big an idiot as Basillio. Hart has been around college football for a long time. He knows (or should) that other schools will be looking for replacements. If he waits, they'll mostly be gone by the time he announces the Dooley firing. Surely to God, he's smarter than that!

The only thing that makes since at why Dooley isn't fired yet is that we got our guy behind the scenes already so there is no need to rush him out the door

I don't think Cut is a real candidate either, but at least he has expressed interest before, and last time around was supposedly a candidate. But I've never heard anyone mention Chief as a candidate. He's been a DC for almost 20 years. I'm not buying that he even wants to be a HC. Where is Ainge getting this?

Ok my sources tell me this is ainges source for all football knowledge

Hah, UT cooled on Gruden? Geez. Reports from Basilio and Ainge keep getting stranger and stranger. Gruden is a homerun hire in every sense of the word and whether he is here 5 years or 10 years you make that deal everyday and twice on Sunday (and also on Sunday you thank the good Lord the man came and dug your football program out of the deepest abyss it has ever been in). UT cooled on Gruden....good Lord.

I'm not buying it--yet.

I would take cut with or without Chavis if it got down to the point of him or smart. Cut would be great in the short term. We could hit the homerun in 3-5 years from now or at least try to again.

I agree Bruin...if we don't hit the home run (Gruden or Patterson or some other big name that's not being mentioned) then I say bring in Cut for 3-5 years...get this thing stabilized...and shoot for the stars again after him...I firmly believe Cut would have us competitive in the SEC East and occasionally get us to the SEC title game...the guy is a good coach who holds people accountable and instills discipline...not a dynamic recruiter but gets the most out of the guys he has.

Fulmer has no experience in rebuilding jobs....

I'm not saying I want Fulmer back, but if all 3 would agree to it (which would never happen because of Cut) I would take Fulmer HC, Chavis DC, and Cut OC over:

1. Al Golden
2. Smart
3. Cut as HC
4. Chavis as HC
and probably a few others.

Al Golden makes no sense.

He built up Temple but he's been crappy at Miami. There are other coaches that have built up crappy programs that still haven't had the opportunity to showcase themselves at a bigger program. We know what Golden can do at a bigger program and it appears to be nothing. I like him and everything but if he can't win in the ACC at Miami, I don't see why he would win here.

You just went old school

I like coach Cut, but I believe he's exactly where he needs to be. Duke does not put it's emphasis on football like UT does.

Why wouldn't we have fired him by now and get a jump on AU, Ark, and UK? Everyone said this was the year, now we're looking up at a (doubtful) 6 win season. There's no way Hart's stupid enough to wait till the end of the year to start a search when he knows DD can't get it done. We're getting killed in recruiting and next year's schedule will only make it worse. There HAS to be someone on the hook. I'm guessing that it's King Jon.

If that were to happen, enjoy your spacious seats at Neyland with plenty of leg room for added comfort. Bad thing for the few hundred people in the upper deck, they would have to walk down the ramp to get a drink and a hot dog.

Ok I was very harsh on tony B saying tenn has Cooled on gruden but what if this is the situation.

Gruden is willing to come if he is the highest paid coach in the country but is only willing to sign a contract with zero buyout if he goes to the NFL and his brother Jay is his coach in waiting.

Would we be upset if hart said thanks but not thanks to that???

we can only hope cutt will never come back

I don't want Cut as the next HFC, but do not dismiss the job he did here as the OC--twice. You can attribute that NC to him as much as anybody. The job he did with Tee that year was outstanding.

Also look at Fulmer's record during he last four seasons. You will see two winning seasons bookended by two losing seasons. Guess who came back for those two in the middle and did and outstanding job with Ainge?

Germany

Great Beer
Expensive cars
Excellent Knives

Can't speak a lick of it.

It's pretty easy to pick up because a lot of the words are very similar. The hardest part is that they combine words into one giant word.

Beautiful women, too, btw.
