From BabyVol
Here's what i heard late last night. I'm hearing TN is talking with several candidates due to the amount of money it's going to cost to bring in Gruden. TN wants to know who the other candidates plan to bring on staff with them if they come. Then they will weigh out which direction to go. The story I got was Gruden has agreed in principle to 8 years around 51 million. The hang up is how much it would cost to bring in the assistants he wants. As everyone has heard he likes Raheem Morris for DC. He wants Chad Morris as OC. The cost would be 1.5 million for each. Here's a big hang up....supposedly Morris just signed a deal with Clemson that has a steep penalty to buyout. Would cost us another couple of million. We might go back to Gruden and try to get him to go with someone else or he might be adamant....no idea. Supposedly Gruden and he are tight. Again....i just bring what I hear so take it or leave it.
My info this time is coming from money so it very well could be. My contacts inside athletic department have been mostly silent this go around. The only thing I've gotten from them is that Gruden was definitely our #1 target. I don't think much will be leaked from Hart this time
Yea. I remember now. You were also providing info in the previous thread right?
If we have Gruden and back out for financial reasons, I am going to be at a loss for words. If this situation were to arise, it has been nice knowing you Dave Hart.
Babyvol went on to say that the hang up is Gruden wants to bring in Raheem Morris as DC and Chad Morris in as OC, both for approximately $1.5M. The problem lies with Morris who signed a contract with a rather large buyout, $1M.
If one million is all the difference in getting Gruden vs not getting him... I don't even know... It's mind boggling to think how dumb that is.

Bayern Munich is my favorite club team. Pretty much has half the international team on it, and Germany is my favorie national team

Volgee4 was bringing info in the prior thread. I don't really consider this "info" per se, rather an explanation of how this process usually plays out in the real world. There's lots of misunderstanding about the nature of a MOU as opposed to a "real" contract.
I am sorry but Gruden should not require 1.5m/yr assistants to feel confident in his ability to have success at UT. Easy to spend other people's money but if UT ends up with the highest paid staff in football I want an NC out of it.
I am likely ignorant about this, but why pay that amount for Chad Morris when Gruden will call plays? Would Gruden not call plays? I would think Jeremy Bates or Jay Graham as OC with Gruden calling plays would be a good option
Lets get it done AD. Dont screw it up. I don't care if Gruden wanted 10 Million make it happen.
I totally agree and would hope that this is the case.If the money men are willing to pay that kinda coin for a staff, they're not gonna let a million dollars mess things up.
