I wonder how negotiable the Morris (Clemson) contract is? Could UT and/or boosters find a way to lower that? What if a title such as Head Coach in waiting?? I don't expect anyone to know that, just something to chew on.

Certainly. Again why wasnt his statement saying no contact had been made between him and the candidates enough? Why go further?

From what I have heard from several people there has been back channeling that did not involve Hart. (for obvious reasons)

As to why he mentioned it and if there is really any tell or sign to take away from it. I don't see much really that matters. Outside of Hart putting it out for public appearance and or the boosters wanting to get out of the way now and making it look like Hart rode in on a white horse wielding the AD sword and saving the day I don't really see much in this.

My recollection was that Hart said Cheek had committed to "investing in the program" when the new TV money comes in which implies that Cheek still controls the purse strings.

I think what he said was that the program had invested in the university and that Cheek had agreed that the University would take less to help the AD financially. Then he said that the new TV money would also be directly funding the AD (paraphrased of course).

I never got the impression that Cheek was involved at all.

The only reason I remember it is because I was like "Holy S**t. The BOT meeting did actually mean something after all"

Also very interesting hart mentioned not being at a disadvantage "academically" as well. I know that was also talked about a few weeks back that Gruden would want hurdles cleared for acedemics so he wouldn't have any recruiting disadvantage...hope I'm paraphrasing correctly

We both know that anything is possible, I just think we live in an age where people of all walks communicate in places like VN and whether he wants to or not, when things like a signed MOU are being discussed, he has to find a way to address them without addressing them.

I don't think it is possible to issue a blanket "plausible deniability" statement.

Whatever the case, that statement was for somebody specific.
