THe second part could have been taken as saying to this thread that no back channeling has been done by anybody. Why go that extra step unless he was trying to send a message?

According to some, there was on final hangup and here is the info.

It seems that Gruden is a lurker at VN. When Gruden read that a certain poster had a genuine hand carved cherry oak desk, he just had to have it. And this became the sticking point in the negotiations and almost derailed the whole deal. But the desk owner's blood just happened to be orange, and a compromise was struck. Gruden got the desk and the poster got to keep the 27 inch screen.

Believe it or not. But just wait until the "Jon Gruden, UT Football Coach" show is on and see what kind of desk he is sitting behind.

Definitely worth more than a Resolute desk.

I must have overlooked that part. Got a little dizzy after reading 6.5! That is a great contract if no buyout for HC JOB then.

My recollection was that Hart said Cheek had committed to "investing in the program" when the new TV money comes in which implies that Cheek still controls the purse strings.

He can't allow the appearance of negotiating going on behind the back of a coach that had not been fired yet. Saving face here. IMO
