Official Jon Gruden Thread VIII

While I agree that litigation is costly for all parties in the near term, consider this. If his buyout is 6 million dollars and we pull a stunt like naming him the interim hc to avoid that penalty fully knowing that Gruden is coming for him to be OC, they will pursue that 6 million dollars and probably also be able to recover for attorney's fees.

Not to mention the ton of negative publicity that UT would get for being so underhanded. In comparison, the 6 million would be cheap. We don't want to have that appearance especially while we are on probation for another two years. Remember, there was nothing in the NCAA rules that directly addressed sexual problems like PSU but the NCAA was able to levy sanctions. Stuff like that could kill.

No doubt.

Again, it is not that we would actually do that, but the possibility alone may help push a negotiation.

It is not going to happen anyways, but I still thought it was a clever tactic.

What the hell??????

Actually the only thing I'm cooking are the potatoes b/c we're having Thankgiving at a relatives house..They will cook a lot of it but a few of us are bringing our usual contribution..I'm also having a large glass of Gruden-Aide to wash down all the turkey and goodies..

And what are your plans?

Flying back to North Carolina to visit the family for a week. Plan on loading up on some good ol' southern food. I'm even thinking about heading to the Kentucky game. Not sure yet, but since the announcement today, the chances of going increase substantially.

It is also probably still a breach of contract that would have to be litigated. All operations under a contract are governed by the obligation of both parties to operate with good faith. That sort of deal would definitely be a breach of that good faith clause and could probably be very costly for UT.

This. Clemson would be in a strong position. That's a little too slick for a judge to swallow IMO.

That's understandable.

I don't think Gruden will go to Arkansas, because it makes no logical sense. The only reason to choose them over us is money, but contrary to what Grudenville wants to believe, our boosters have plenty of cash too. What makes me sick is that if I picture Gruden turning down Cindy's alma mater to go to Fayetteville and do that embarrassing pig cheer, it makes me feel like vomiting.

To the pig fans, you have a good program and lots of cash to back it up and will get a good coach. But, you're not beating out UT for Gruden, with all of the connections he has to us. And, if he had no connections to either program, you'd still lose this fight. We have the better program. You haven't won a conference title since you got here, and you've only played in the title game three times and were totally destroyed in two of them. You're not Alabama, LSU, or Auburn. You're Arkansas.

For my English class, I should have written a paper on Derek Dooley. The topic was something that had to be controversy. An argument could be made that if Dooley did a good job on stabilizing the program or he was bringing it down. I think it would have been a hit!

Don't know of posted yet but hearing the announcement will be week if SEC championship. I'm not 100% on that yet, but that's what I've been told as of a few hours ago.

Oh it is incredibly clever. Whoever came up with that gets an A+ for creativity, but an F- for ethics.

:)

I have hoped they would announce it 3 hours prior to the SECCG. Take all the spotlight.
