SBV, here is a question. How concerned should we be about Gruden "leaving us at the alter" so to speak? Seems like some believe this could end up happening.

I believe he's respectable enough to stay here for at least three years. the program will be in much better shape three years with gruden.

still worth it. IMO.

There is no reason as of today for me to have any doubts about Gruden.

Final confirmation for me will be when Gruden takes his NCAA test.

Shortly after that he will be standing next to Hart as he's introduced as the head coach of the University of Tennessee.

I love it . i said it's great to be a TENNESSEE VOL !!!!

We will murder Kentucky, they will be UTs stress ball this Saturday. I would NOT want to be them.

These guys will play for Chaney.

I hope you are correct.
I am worried about the fact that we have, at least for now, lost our psychological edge on them. They won't have the feeling of 'mission impossible' creeping into their minds this time.

Kentucky is really bad though, really bad.

Tyler Bray threw the game, not Dooley. But Dooley failed a long time ago to get that pot smoking prick under control.

You're right. I couldn't tell if it were one, the other, or both. Bray makes more sense.dooley did always seem to be a stand up guy...just not much of a coach.

If Gruden is hired will ESPN still hate us?

Since Jon Gruden is a part of ESPN..

and ESPN hates us...

If Gruden becomes the head coach...

Will ESPN still hate us?

Will Former ESPN himself Gruden hate us even if he is coaching us?

Is it all a conspiracy? Could it be.. that ESPN forces Gruden to take the job just to tear us down? After all. ESPN HATES US.

Patterson looks good prepared or not but he did seem to run some crazy routes and only played for his play as it were, Bray and Hunter didn't really show. All the overthrows, playing for the jugs gun, staring down the Vandy sideline, what was Bray thinking. Look like the team had given up in the plays right before the fake punt. At lease Marlin lane ran with abandon. In Hindsight DD should have given the game to Worley and Lane.

No telling whether DD had any wind of what the booster have purportedly been up to. The Vols looked bad.

Dooley quit on his guys last week against Mizzu...looked like they were done with him then. If you don't think a lot of the BS in Nashville was Dooley's last Eff U to the program, then I can't help ya. Dooley is a petty, spiteful person. Stories of his temper tantrums around the AD will come out. Stories of his mistreatment of players will come.

Dooley came in and expected/demanded he be respected. He never did ANYTHING to earn it. You have to, as the HBC, sell your kids on your ways and convince them that you're the man thats gonna lead them onto the field with a chance to win every Saturday, allow them the opportunity to get better and get to the next level, and put them in positions to shine.

Dooley did NONE of those things. Dooley showed Bray (who was on a hot streak) that he didn't believe in the offense and their ability to atleast give Palardy a shot to kick a game winner. That was the final straw. Hunter and Bray were livid in the Mizzu game. It was bad.

Kentucky is really bad though, really bad.

Kentucky beat us last year without a QB. We lost because we didnt care.

We nearly got rolled by Troy.

anything is possible and now without a coach or a bowl to play for there is literally no telling what could happen Saturday.

It is possible.

Like others have said nothing is done until its done.

But I am not concerned. Gruden has shown much more interest and is much more invested into this opp than before or with other openings.

Wait a minute. Can Dools be publicly fired, yet the ink isnt dry on his termination papers? Could he simply be "in hiding"...while it "appears" that he has been fired to calm the rumblings...Chaney is named interim coach to go with the cover and to salvage a Senior day game?...We have yet to see any kind of "official statement" from Dools, aside from a short statement attached to articles saying he was gone...maybe he just wanted out of the spotlight early, but we are holding him to full contract term for the season...and we will not in fact hear any announcement about JG until after Kensucky sucky...

Why would they go ahead and legally cut him loose if it complicated our edge?

Yeh, conspiracy theorist here...humor me...

Pretty sure Gruden wants a long term deal as do we according to Hart yesterday:

"First of all, as you well know this will be our fourth football coach in six years. This is not what I wanted and I don't think this what we really needed relative to stability versus more transition. We have had 12 presidents since the year 2000. We now have four football coaches in six years. We need stability. But we need to find stability through a process that we are engaged in now."

Chris Low about to go on Finebaum to talk UT coaching search.

Will post updates to this post.

Dooley being fired is no surprise to anyone. 14-15 and losing to Vandy and Kentucky unacceptable. Tradition at TN too good for those results. Dooley did improve program from where it was when he began, next coach will have success easier and quicker.

Dooley chose not to coach because his family couldn't handle the rumors of him being fired any longer.

Jon Gruden has reached out to staff about Tennessee, told people he believes he can win at TN. He is a rockstar, every prospect in America will want to come to TN. He is worth 5-6 Mill. Always afraid of getting left at alter with JG.

Jon Gruden is itching to get back into coaching this year. Big question is NFL or college. Sincere in looking into jobs at college level. Believes he will be coaching somewhere next year.

Finebaum then dismisses all that and asks for more realistic names.

Jimbo, Strong, Mike Gundy, Tommy Tubberville were named by Low.

Finebaum asks about James Franklin, Chris Low believes that Arkansas has looked into him and JF doesn't want to go there, wants something better?? Thinks he will get big time offer soon. Auburn or Tennessee are possible, but TN people don't want to hire a Vandy coach...makes more money at Vandy than Dooley was. (2.7 M).

Petrino trying to get aggresive to get a job says Finebaum. Low doesn't think anyone in SEC will hire him this year. Too soon.
