Official Jon Gruden Thread X

To rebuff my critics....I'm actually a nice person. I really am. Except for when it comes to Jon Gruden. I don't want the Volunteer faithful to go through what I've already gone through. I don't want you to have to suffer as I have. I was a Jon Gruden fan once upon a time. Believe it or not, I was exactly like the majority of you...sunshine, rainbows, and Gruden can do no wrong.

Then, 2003-2008 happened.

I watched a team with all the potential in the world do absolutely nothing with it. I watched a self-proclaimed offensive genius lose games where the defense had held their opponents to less than 20 points. I watched far too many false start and delay of game penalties. I watched a team that I pull for crumble to the ground in ashes.

Tennessee football is my one true faith. I would give up all my other sports allegiances for Tennessee. Gone would be the days of watching Mike Alstott, Ronde Barber, Warren Sapp, and Derrick Brooks prowl Raymond James Stadium. Gone would be my memories of Bobby Cox, David Justice, Terry Pendleton, and Chipper Jones at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium and later at Turner Field. Gone would be the times I spent with my grandfather at Joe Louis Arena watching Sergei Fedorov and Steve Yzerman define what hockey was supposed to look like, for nothing more than to hear my beloved Rocky Top.

So, no, I will NOT change my allegiance if Gruden is hired. I will NOT "root for the Vols to lose so that I am right". Inasmuch as I want to be right, I want the Vols to win more. However, you will never hear a kind word from me pertaining to Gruden, and in no way, shape, or form will I ever give him credit for winning a football game if he is named the coach at Tennessee. It is perfectly acceptable to love the team, and to despise the coach. I've seen first hand what Jon Gruden can do to a team. I don't want to go through it again with my beloved Big Orange. That's all. I just wish that I could let each and every one of you look through my eyes at him as I do. You wouldn't see the savior of a program at all, you'd see something quite the opposite.

There is a 3 line limit on this thread. Could u sum it up for us.

Serious question: What would be the purpose of any kind of smoke screen? I have heard that idea thrown around, but I can't for the life of me figure out why AD would even try to disguise any hire when it happens. Why would they try to create a surprise?

Anybody? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

With all the negativity here today, how soon some forget that ESPN actually had Gruden at the top of THEIR coaches list for UT.

And Douche Ex makes an appearance. Wish you FF window lickers would stick to your own threads.

DexM is just saying what a majority of TB fans who are also Vols feel. That doesn't make him a bad guy. :hi: I have felt the same way, but you guys here have convinced me I may have been wrong. :peace2: I just recently got aboard the Grudski train, now I just hope Hart doesn't run it off the tracks. :salute:

Monday Gruden will be wearing an orange tie. At halftime he will announce that it will be his last MNF game. On the Nov 27 he will be named the new HC@UT. He will be interviewed at the SEC Championship game and will have an impressive list of 4&5 star recruits. I know people don't believe me because I'm ulgy with a noticeable sinus problem and herpes blisters the size of golf balls. It's going to be a great day to be a Tennessee Vol Nov 27.

Thread has went full retard.

Why? Because there r actual discussions about something relevant to the name of the thread?

I don't understand the ppl who don't want to hear all sides and point of views.. Doesn't mean there's a war.. Just different ideas and opinions.

Quick, somebody throw in some Gruden gifs and cat pics to make ppl here more comfortable!!

If Hart is standing in the way, I see him getting canned.

Guys, remember when we it was said we will make Gruden say no. That is still 100% the case. Hart doesn't really want to give total control to Gruden, but if thats the dealbreaker then this will happen. Hart is not the only one making decisons. Haslem, Peyton, Majors, all have had a say in this hire.

We will formally interview a few candidates this next week and then pull the trigger on the 30th and announce it on Dec 3rd.

This right here is where BIG MONEY needs to make darn sure nothing does get screwed up, Hart doesn't need to get to cute with this thing secure Gruden, Hart has plenty on his plate giving control to Gruden is a plus,IMHO. Looks like it did well for bama, and I gaurantee Gruden is just as sharp probably sharper. If this is indeed the holdup PLEASE somebody make sure it gets done! WE WANT YOU JON!!! GRUUU!

Nope. Sorry. If you aren't on the Gruden wagon you are an arrogant prick.

Even if it totally blows a year of recruiting, I want to take the time to get it right.

With that said, I will fearlessly predict that he is announced two weeks from last night....December 7....the day the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.
