If JG wants this job and the snags are on his end, I hope he is willing to bend a little. Compromise isn't a bad thing.
Here's my advice to Hart:
If you hire Gruden and things don't work out, no one will blame you because they would have done the same.
If you don't hire Gruden, everyone will blame you.
The three snags (which have all been through the rumor mill already many times)
-assistant coach hiring/firing control (lots of inner variable and extremely complex)
-the years in question on the deal for Gruden. He wants long term and UTAD says too many
-academic enrollment standards to be lowered to level playing field with the rest of the SEC
all of which make total sense to me.
That's the one thing I liked about Kiffin. He had swagger.
UT needs to get its swagger back and I think Gruden would do it.
If we take Jimbo, I assume FSU's #1 pick is Mark Richt. Whether he leaves or not is a different story but the SEC could get real muddy real fast.
Yeah, but if both parties want it, they find a way to make it happen. My concern is that maybe Hart and Cheek aren't truly all-in on this.
But is what he is asking for something that UT can (or should) realistically provide?
For instance, if Gruden was insisting on Chad Morris being the OC (which I don't think he is/was), knowing that Morris had such a high buyout from Clemson, IYO, should UT have agreed to pay that buyout, even if it would be a "reaslistic" option?
I'm all-in on Gruden, but not at all costs.
EDIT: I think you may have answered my question while I was posting it.
Hart was at Bama during Saban hire and saw boosters come in and intimidate the AD into not hiring Rich Rod. Now, did that leave an impression on him that he would never let that happen to him so he really is being difficult? It would actually seem that after seeing what it has meant to Bama football to spend the money to get the right guy he would not get in the way at all. I still don't buy that Hart is blocking anything.

I'm pretty sure Hart was not at BAMA during the Saban hiring.Hart was at Bama during Saban hire and saw boosters come in and intimidate the AD into not hiring Rich Rod. I take it 100% done deal meant MOU. Snags came up working through post MOU details.

Hubbs is the biggest bulls*** artist. He even sucks at recruiting news. By the time he announces a new commit, the whole world already knew.... he has a lot of nut-hangers though... VQ is a funny site.
No, I'm referring to the insiders/OG's stating that the deal was "100% done". Heck, at least one of them bet a lifetime ban on the deal being done. "Done" means he is UT's next coach. "Done deal" is absolute and leaves no room for snags; otherwise, they would have said, "things look promising" or, "it's close to done". I'm not flaming; I would love to hear from those with sources for an explanation.
