Official Jon Gruden Thread XII

I mean for their official ESPN duties. I promise you Corso, and Herbstreet won't be flying commercial. ESPN get's them to their GIG on a private jet. Even the VOLS can provide this service for him. Yes, he probably resorts to commercial flights for some functions, but when you are talking about the amount of money being talked about here, McGhee Tyson is NOT the weak link in the chain. Do you think Saban worries about flying in and out of Tuscaloosa?

Then why was Chris Fowler standing in the check-in line right in front of me after a game in Columbus a few years back? ESPN does not have a fleet of planes to carry all of its announcers.

Here is another thing for you to chew on. I would wager that only a select few of their announcers are permitted to pay for first class seats. Now, many of them accrue miles and can upgrade that way. I did sit next to Dave Barnett in first class a few years ago and he was on his way to do a game. I didn't ask if he paid for the seat or upgraded because of status (I did the latter).

Tampa would be infinitely more convenient for a frequent traveler than Knoxville and mainly because you can fly direct virtually anywhere you want to go.

I'm getting weary of explaining simple crap like this to the non-critical thinkers in the crowd but here we go.........

Cindy likes Tampa. The kids like Tampa. They don't WANT to move.

Jon likes coaching. He wants to be a coach again. He will NOT be coaching in Tampa again. So..... and pay attention here.... they will have to move somewhere, wherever he lands a coaching job.

Still with me???

Finally, knowing the he will be coaching SOMEWHERE, Cindy would rather that somewhere be Knoxville, than anywhere else.

Got it now?? She wants to be in Tampa but if they have to move she would like it to be to Knoxville.

Hope that was simple enough for you to follow. Now you don't have to ask the question repeatedly. :hi:

Dang! I know that wasn't directed at me and you make a lot of sense, but why the condescending tone?

I am only caught up to 8:23am in this thread, as I am working too.
I just wanted to throw it out there that on the drive in this morning, a host on 1010 AM in Jax was talking about Strong. He mentioned WHAS (Louisville). I think he said he talked to someone from WHAS. But, he said the media in Louisville was under the impression Strong is leaving, and the obvious speculation is that it's for one of the open SEC jobs. When asked about reviewing Rutgers film, Strong apparently said his assistants handled all that, and he was focused on the team's mindset coming off of the UConn loss. And, someone else with UofL was asked about the move to the ACC making it easier to retain the coaches. I can't remember the answer to that, but the point is that the 1010 AM host said the impression people got from the two answers was that Strong is leaving.

I want Gruden if he's still in play. Not trying to hijack this into an extended Strong discussion. Just passing it on that he may be in play. He may be the best candidate on the 'B' list, and it could be that none of the open jobs are filled by someone on the 'A' list.

And, if you recall my post in the Cliff Notes from a while back, Frank Frangie, who has said he expects Gruden to go to UT, is not on the morning show.

No worries. There's nothin to hide.

I'm not sure exactly how to define what I was told...it was vague. But without assuming and only guessing...yes, loyalty to not only his role, but the people he works with, the network, all the above.

Jake, can you give me some kind of update brother? I've been covered up with work.

Some tidbit from 2007 article:

"TVGuide.com: Geez. It sounds like you need to talk to ESPN about getting your own private jet.
Herbstreit: Yeah, that would work. They do fly me privately from GameDay to the Saturday night game, but the rest of the travel is not private. If you can help me get that done, I'd appreciate it."

Excellent, now we have a Cindy "insider".

Way to use some brain cells Laager. Maybe it will motivate some others to do the same.

I've made this very argument myself. Thank you. If you like where you are and you can stay there with the primary income earner able to maintain employment while there, you don't usually move. The family had been there for years. Roots were put down.

If Gruden wants to coach, it won't be in Tampa. They'll have to move no matter how you slice it.

It's pretty simple to me as well.

Either way even the OG's are saying they have no new info and the info out there is clouded at best. This is the time just before the dawn or we may be headed for the apocalypse of a nuclear winter. I'm hoping it's the first because that sounds like a lot more fun until I see the mushroom cloud myself.

A note about Dooley... I work in the construction industry and the company I work for is a subcontractor on the McKenzie Lawson expansion. Dooley cost the university quite a bit of money on that project with his trivial changes to the layout of certain features after the concrete had been in place.

The guy was a control freak but didn't know what he was doing.

....but some of the recruiting issues in state were just made public this week so Dooley deserves to be flamed for this when you hear these stories.

Can you tell me again, why Cindy wouldn't have already moved to Knoxville? LOL You've made the point well like 1000 times already and it would take a complete idiot not to have already understood what you were saying. You are much more patient than I to explain it again and again without ignoring them.

Are they revising their plans to keep the fans from storming the field?

Can anyone confirm if hart went to FL today?...or not in office. I find it hard to believe that his "first" "announced" flight for interview through leak coming from Univ of Miami would be for Golden..A more likely scenario is having that meeting that did not take place yesterday
