There are some good coaches we can go after, just don't like having to take the step down from Gruden to those goes if Gude was ever really a possibility.

It's like winning the lottery. If you get 4 numbers and the powerball number you win $1 million (I think). That's big money and a siginifcant improvement of lifestyle for your family. If you get ALL the numbers and win the jackpot, you get $300 million. That money changes your life, your kid's life, your grandkid's life .... hell, your entire family.

Gruden was the jackpot for us. I just don't think there's another realistic jackpot available.

Why would that matter if you are a power/control/money freak. People like this have no loyalty, I have worked with many of these types.

It obviously doesn't matter now. Was just answering the question and saying he had some interest at some point.

Thats why he didn't come out immediately and kill the hype like he did with Arky

Cause he has a job and he's not available to accept another one right now?

First: vollygirl where is the avi? I have been visiting here for a while and yours was one of my fav.
Second: I think that what you said is very close to the truth. At this point he still has one of the best jobs in broadcasting.
Third: When Gruden is hired after the last MNF bring back the avi.

I think we all just need to take a step back and think for a minute. Nothing is adding up. There's only 3 possible scenarios.

1: Gruden and some boosters met Thursday night and came to an agreement. Then the next morning Gruden spoke with his agent and the boosters talked to Hart and someone didn't like what was agreed upon. Either Hart wanted to negotiate more or Lamonte did. When this happened "someone" got pissed off and this deal was squashed.

2: This could all be part of the plan. The SEC made it known they didn't want a coach announced before the SECC, Alabama and Georgia were also complaining about it overshadowing the SECC and since we aren't in the greatest standing with the SEC as it is, we went ahead and had both parties come out and say that this deal is dead so that it would silence all the message boards and media. That way all the focus could be on the SECC and please the SEC.

3: That everything being reported is 100% accurate and all these rumors just got way out of hand and spun outta control. And Gruden never wanted to come to the college game after all.

Sorry if this is hard to read on my mobile and keep getting interrupted.

Pretty good analogy. Gundy, Fisher, Strong, and Swinney (I highly doubt this one, but I saw soemone mention it earlier) would all be good hires. We just missed on THE hire though.

I am down but not out.

I promise I will!!!

Most likely. However, my post was referring to how Hart would be viewed, not the coach.

If whoever Hart hires loses those two games, Hart will be taking a lot o heat. Fair or not, that's jut how it will be IMO

You may be correct but Vol fans have become so used to losing that they really don't expect to win anymore

Sorry, can't see the third one being right. LaMonte claimed Tennessee never talked to him. That is enough for me to doubt anything coming from that guy's mouth.

I hope this whole thing was a play by Gruden to get the money he wanted for his assistants or something. Not likely, but hopes are good for the soul.

I agree with you, it's just a lot of people are saying he never had any interest.
