JG himself has not said No yet. Just his agent

Which means nothing of course.... Saban himself said he was not taking the bama job. This is not dead, what Liper and Slice are hearing is true. This is not dead! Tarzan and big Jim want this done and may very well still happen. The money is for one person, and I don't mean the $18 million. Tarzan said he wanted the perfect opportunity and Jane wants it too. It happens this week.

That's a really good point. This could be the source of what I perceive to be a very public pi$$ing contest between LaMonte (not necessarily Gruden) and the $$$.
LaMonte could be butthurt and taking it out on UT.
This might be a shot across the bow on how dealings will be between LaMonte's and Haslam's people at the NFL level.

Maybe we're all barking up the wrong tree here, Gruden's representation not UT's is messing this thing up... maybe Gruden talked to Boosters came to an agreement, then with the 2 sides got their representation involved, it turned bad.

For those of you saying FML when Fisher gets hired...what do you think the reaction will be when Fisher turns down the UT job?

Hart will look like a damn fool.

Fisher will turn it down. That could work out fine for Hart though, he could say, "See? I tried to get someone at half the price of Gruden who could win, but they won't come. Let's get Gruden..." But that's assuming Hart has any damn sense in his head...

I am about to believe to solve this mystery we must look into the purchase of the browns. Was it for him to make money ? Have control of a football team?
He has plenty of money.
He basically has control of our Vols without spending all that money .
So what gives here I thought it was odd when he made the purchase ?

Main Characters:

Jim Haslam (father)owner Pilot oil
Jimmy Haslam(son). Owner of Cleveland Browns
Bill Haslam (son of big Jim and brother to Broens owner is Govenor of Tennessee)

Side note, Jimmy's college roommate at Tennessee was Senator Bob Corker.

BTW, some clown in the other forum posted that he got a text from his dad saying there is supposedly a press conference tomorrow. Like most trolls, it was his first post. needless to say i let him have it

Exactly what I've been postulating since the LaMonte comments came out. I just think that LaMonte was going public to try to embarrass Hart into agreeing to his
version of the contract - he did successfully turn the pressure up on Hart, we know that now.

Rather than taking an agent at his word:lolabove: I choose to believe that he was being an agent and trying to put his client in the most beneficial position.

I think we're in the middle of a stalemate over terms, not a broken deal. JMO

Must be getting sleepy or delirious but did anyone else think that kiffin wore the coolest VOLS stuff. Im married and completely straight but picturing gruden in that black pullover with power T emblem leading the team thru the T wearing the rare black uni's is giving me a boner. I should probably get some rest before i go insane over this ****.

Or maybe, just maybe, LaMonte is trying to paint the image of legit talkings between JG and TN as a complete myth, something so crazy, out of "fantasy land" that it would kill any notion of him seeking employment outside of ESPN until he collected the next 1.1 million dollars he's owed from them. By him saying this, instead of Gruden, there's no bad blood between JG and UT (why would anyone want that to be the case???) and it also, for legal purposes, fits into the statements of what Hargis released.

To spell this out further. The ESPN issue is a hangup. By "not" contacting LaMonte, we're not "officially" really trying to get Gruden away, thus him keeping his upcoming MNF money. We've talked to Jon, directly, without LaMonte. When it came out from Hargis and the CFP that we had, LaMonte had to go into shutdown mode, to kill any illusion of foul-play, for the safety of Jon's upcoming ESPN money.

Maybe?

I thought he did at one point. Now, I'm not so sure. If Gruden was out of play, I would think most of the smoke would be circulating around Charlie Strong. Now I've not believed most of the Gruden conspiracy theories, but the more I think and the more it all seems to go along...

The key is compensation. If Gruden and his staff are really in the Saban range, and you can't close, than you're a loser AD. Simple as that. If Jeremy Foley or Mal Moore have that opportunity, they close. No coffee for you Red Lion. :zeitung_lesen:

Edit: If the boosters can't agree on compensation and it's in the Saban range, the boosters arguing against this are losers as well.

True, if you got it on the hook, you gotta reel it in.
Yeah, I hate to admit it, but how many homeruns has Jeremy Foley hit? I hate hate hate that he's so good.
I wouldn't be so sure about Mal Moore, he was ready to hire RichRod until the boosters stepped in and said "no thanks, Rich," (remember, he was still a homerun hire at this time). I think Mal is a survivor while Jeremy is a prodigy.

Maybe babyvol was just making a point:

Dang...some of you guys don't fall for anything. I applaud some of you for being very smart.....others not so much.

Apoarently he was kidding because he also linked outkickthecoverage website underneath his post that he was off the Gruden train. He still is confident that Gruden is happening

Here's the full story as I know it:
First of all to understand what happened to Gruden, you gotta understand who Gruden the coach was. Now Gruden was born to a three-legged ***** of a mother. He was always ashamed of this, man. And then right after that he's adopted by this man, Bob LaMonte, he's a small time gun runner and a coach promoter. So he puts Gruden into training. They see Gruden's good. He is damn good. But then he had the fight of his life. They pit him against his brother nibbles. And Gruden said "no man that's my brother, I can't fight nibbles" but they made him fight anyway, and Gruden, he killed nibbles. Gruden said "that's it!" he called off all his fights, and he started doing crack, and he freaked out. Then in a rage, he collapsed, and his heart no longer beat. wow.

Thank you for clarifying that you are, in fact, married and completely straight.

Only thing I miss about Kiffin was his fine wife!

I'm just curious... I've heard speculation and some rumors that if Hart screws this up any further, he might not be the one to make the hire of the next HC. Is this a legit possibility and if so, who would that responsibility fall upon? The BOT?

I don't really care who the next head coach is as long as he is a winner. That being said Espn, Foxsports and NBC sports wouldn't report on the Gruden being a potential hire and cover it, if there isn't real talks going on. I believe there are still talks between both parties. This would be the most difficult hire to make happen in college football. Like other posters have stated every other SEC team is automatically against us on this hire. I'm just saying its alot of legation and formalities would have to be worked out. As they say its too much smoke on talks between Gruden and UT. In the end I still think we end up with Gruden, if it wasn't him we would have already made a hire. Its just my opinion.
