Some of them were either FOS or just very misinformed. Like I said I ignored info from the AD side, probably because of how caught up I was in this, and chose who to listen to. I made the wrong choice, not disparaging any people I know, just their information.

I really like most of those in this thread though, with a few exceptions being those now trying to make **** up to keep people's hopes up and turn people against any hire not named Gruden. It's sad, some really good coaches out there we should be proud to have imo.

I wanted Gruden and believed with every fiber of my being he was coming but I was wrong, my sources were wrong, we got tied up in a web of bad information and that is über clear now.

I think it was most likely wishful thinking by the big boys. However, I won't completely rule it out for this reason. If there was ever any discussion with Gruden (even on a casual level) and we are desperate enough, somebody could decide to break the bank and sell the AD's soul to get him.

People in here that that think they have sources dont. Ive been told only a few people are actually in the coaching search loop, less then 10. Ive also been told that the ad has been lock down with information or the information being given to staff is untrue or misdirected. Can anybody confirm this?

No I think he was reporting what he believed to be true per his "source". His were wrong, as were ours.

It always comes down to lying or telling the truth. This was all word of mouth. I forgot the important rule that the truth is almost always in the middle of two opposite opinions lol.

You don't get it. It's about hope...do I realistically think Gruden is coming, not really, but I can hope. Do I think anyone inside or outside of this thread knows anything of value, not really. Others come in here and talk about being delusional or insanity but the insanity is not within this thread, it is outside of this thread becasue if you look elsewhere, which I do, people are falling for everything someone puts out there. (You do know, we have already interviewed Fedora and Gundy and Jimbo is being announced in 48 hours.) So for my sanity I am gonna stay in here and converse with people who have the same HOPE I do and when the man steps up to the podium I'm gonna go to his thread and say, so tell me about this guy.

It happens B... Don't be so hard on yourself. I believe we'll get a good (7,8 and maybe 9 wins a season guy) coach, baby step up the road to respectability and in five years or so go after the big fish everyone is clamoring for when we really have the money to make it happen.

I don't have much hope for it to be Gruden anymore....but I will sure be rooting for it until I hear an official name.

As a Tennessee fan...it seems this team has brought me a lot of sorry along with a lot of joy...if this is not Gruden it will be one of the saddest days I have had as a UT fan

Also, didn't the recruit M. North says that Coach jay graham told him that it was down to gruden, fisher, and some others Wednesday night or so? I just don't see it being completely dead. Not completely.

BTW - I'm not hating on you or any of the OGs. I'm just pointing out that you are essentially discrediting yourself with your recent rationalization.

I don't think it was/is the wrong choice to ignore the AD sources. The Knoxville Media gets 90% of their info from AD Sources and they are in a constant state of clusterf***.

I still believe there are teeth to this thing. I'm not saying I think it's 100% going to happen. But I believe Hargis' report. I also believe that when you hire Jon Gruden, he has an earliest available date that probably doesn't correlate to what is ideal for this hiring. Assuming you have to wait for Jon Gruden past last Friday, everything we've seen was necessary.

You guys are wrong. If there was nothing to it, why was Gruden recruiting coaches specifically for Tennessee.

As for bcarter. I have nothing ff against you personally and I never trusted your sources. Their info was too different than the founders of this thread from the beginning.

You seem a bit emotional. Your opinions in this have been wild and over the map several times.

The really sad thing is that even if by some miracle the deal gets back on track and JG does become our coach, enough ill will has been generated that the fanbase won't be nearly as united as it was this time last week...
