If your thinking is correct.. then that guy from chattanooga radio was just lying through his teeth...
Where the fff is westernkyvol.. I need my grugs

Let's just wait. No need to get worked into a frenzy again. The Gruden news, however, is not coming from the booster side. It's coming from the NFL side. But I recommend not spending every minute monitoring this thread. Go to church, watch some NFL, hang out with your family.

She totally IS VFL... Unfortunately, at the end of the day it 's Gruden's decision, not hers.

jmo...but a vfl wouldn't allow her husbands agent to publiclly emberass the instituition without a statement. Im not say she wouldnt allow him to say no.... im talking bout the humiliation factor.

UNTIL I SEE SOMEONE ELSE on that podium, i believe gruden is coming. The manning and the haslams did not pursue this for months to back out of a deal because of one bad seed. If that bad seed will not concede to there wishes, he will be gone. Money talks, remember that.

I still haven't heard a negagrude give a legitimate answer to this question:

Let's assume it is fact that Gruden is 110% interested, but for one reason or another can't technically commit until after December 6th.

What would have happened differently last week than what actually transpired?

Don't know about Haslam but Manning has other stuff to occupy him right now. I'm not buying that he ever had a lot of involvment in this at all...

First let me say that I'm NOT trying to start an argument about UT vs Vandy, but here's my point. If UT doesn't make the right hire and turn things around pretty quickly I think they could be headed down a slippery slope that may take a generation or more to recover from. As it is today's recruits don't remember the 1998 NC and most don't even remember when TN was competitive. If this continues how long will it take for the same dynamics to apply to the fan base? Another "less than perfect" hire that can't create buzz and pull the recruits then the slide continues. How eager will the boosters be to continue pouring money into a sinking ship / company hemorrhaging cash and headed for bankruptcy? Things can't stay on the current trajectory or the Vols will become the Miss State, Kentucky, Old S.C. or Old Vandy of the SEC East. THIS HAS TO BE FIXED AND IT HAS TO BE FIXED NOW.

Best idea I've heard all weekend. Here's another: UT to get a line of credit at First TN Bank and offer Saban 10-12 million a year + staff salaries after his next championship. We could offer First Tennessee ads on the uniforms and helmets and no charges for sponsorship / commercials.

Another thing, how is it that the Tennessee athletic dept. has a reserve fund of 1.5 million and other SEC schools have 50-80 million? How is this even possible?

UT boosters and alumni that tightfisted or did someone blow through a pile of cash?

We just spent our reserve on facilities

BTW - I'm not hating on you or any of the OGs. I'm just pointing out that you are essentially discrediting yourself with your recent rationalization.

I don't think it was/is the wrong choice to ignore the AD sources. The Knoxville Media gets 90% of their info from AD Sources and they are in a constant state of clusterf***.

I still believe there are teeth to this thing. I'm not saying I think it's 100% going to happen. But I believe Hargis' report. I also believe that when you hire Jon Gruden, he has an earliest available date that probably doesn't correlate to what is ideal for this hiring. Assuming you have to wait for Jon Gruden past last Friday, everything we've seen was necessary.

Not worried about any credit but my financial one. Never did, and have been honest to be blasted by both sides. I myself discredit a lot of info I brought to the board regarding Gruden specifically. I believed it, and was told it by people I trust(ed), and it was wrong.

Agree 100% we lose to vandy for the next 3 or 4 years..in a row... if the right hire is not made

So were the stories of MOUs being signed just complete lies?

Some of them were either FOS or just very misinformed. Like I said I ignored info from the AD side, probably because of how caught up I was in this, and chose who to listen to. I made the wrong choice, not disparaging any people I know, just their information.

No I think he was reporting what he believed to be true per his "source". His were wrong, as were ours.

It always comes down to lying or telling the truth. This was all word of mouth. I forgot the important rule that the truth is almost always in the middle of two opposite opinions lol.

I want Gruden...always have and always will...you posting that I should not will not change my mind on this or any other person on here that wants him.

I think most of us believe there is not much chance it will be(as for me I still think it will be Strong) but if you destroy a person's hope...sometimes he has nothing left.

I believe it will be Strong...but I hope for a Miracle

Maybe no one was wrong; maybe it just fell through as it has been stated.

I agree and disagree

I think the Tennessee brand loses some shine every year we're down.... which makes it more difficult for the coaching staff.... but not impossible.

As a Vandy fan, you should be able to relate with the fact that Vandy has always sucked - but get one decent coach in there and things are looking up.

All it takes is one solid coach and recruiting class and things can turnaround pretty fast. Not as fast as BBall, but pretty quickly.

Completely disagree.

Maybe so... I just don't believe this thing ever had the legs we all thought it did anyway. If I'm wrong I'll be the first to admit it but speaking personally, I don't think Gruden really wanted to be here unless the $$$$ were out of sight which tells me he doesn't really want to be here.

You guys are wrong. If there was nothing to it, why was Gruden recruiting coaches specifically for Tennessee.

As for bcarter. I have nothing ff against you personally and I never trusted your sources. Their info was too different than the founders of this thread from the beginning.

You seem a bit emotional. Your opinions in this have been wild and over the map several times.

It is what it is man, those I do not trust are those stating absolutes and not swaying as information comes in.

People in here that that think they have sources dont. Ive been told only a few people are actually in the coaching search loop, less then 10. Ive also been told that the ad has been lock down with information or the information being given to staff is untrue or misdirected. Can anybody confirm this?
I think it's less than 5 people that actually know what is going on.
