Lex, I apologize that I am responding to this message so late, but I'm trying to get caught up from today. After reading what you wrote and thinking about your comments about you think info is being released on a delayed basis...meaning things that actually did happen is being released but a few weeks later. Such as, maybe the rift did occur with Hart and the boosters, but it occurred 3 weeks or so ago. Now, what Hart, boosters, and Gruden did was wanted to wait and use this info to kill the media buzz later down the road to give more time. What I'm getting at is I wouldn't be surprised that they purposefully leaked info to the journalist in Chattanooga to write that story, and then used the info from prior weeks that they had a big blow up, and the deal is off. This is how it is portrayed to those in the know...to those in the media, there are statements made that Gruden NEVER was interested, and UT is moving on with the search.

Now, here is my final point: if info is being delayed 3 weeks or so, and we just got the info that occurred 3 weeks ago when we thought the announcement would occur any day now, then it seems that we have about 3 more weeks to have the actual announcement. Guess when that would be?...right after JG's last Monday night game on December 22nd!!! The timeline fits perfectly. Flame away.

Bump...hoping Lex and some of the other OGs see this and will comment.

There are way too many conflicting reports and opinions floating around out there, and the Grude himself remains quiet, perhaps very much involved behind the scenes. I wouldn't say it's over by a long shot, after watching the way the Oakland to Tampa talks went down a few years back. On a side note, my neighbor is a big USF fan, and he suggested to me that they were in the mix for Gruden's services. I simply laughed and walked away.

I didn't see this posted in this thread but I posted this in the coaching cliff notes thread this AM. Since there's been some chatter about issues relating to control of the football program I figure after reading Saban's contract and then seeing this report regarding Gundy that the issue of control is certainly not limited to Gruden.

“I believe rumors are true,” OSU radio sideline reporter Robert Allen tweeted Sunday. “Gundy interviewing, but looking for program control most in his position have and he should. OSU needs to do it.”

I've had so many posts about the importance of an MOU. A couple of posters said that it was signed. I took that as if the deal was done.

Hmm,what do you think it means?

In Gruden XIII I noted that I had experience in large contracts for capital projects and that they were difficult to get finalized and often times we would issue a temporary work release to the contractor with limited scope until we could hammer out the remaining details of the document. We would do that because our schedule required we get started if we were going to meet our other project objectives. It's just that sophisticated people cover all of their bases on both sides. Contrary to popular perspectives the Head Coaching position is not a job; Nowadays it's a project. jmo.

Not an insider at all, but still believing we are witnessing a huge smokescreen/cover up, and we wind up with Gruden.

Let Arky, Auburn, UK make their hires, and just when everyone thinks we've lost the coaching war, and we have to settle, or beg....

BOOM. There's Gruden. And everyone simultaneously craps their pants.

Wouldn't it be great if things worked out like that? Unfortunately, this is real life...
