It all boils down to players no matter who the coach is.We have got to be able to recruit at a highlevel on a national basis.Never forget Pat Summits Dads advice to her after a loss early in her coaching career. He said Pat u cant win the Kentucky Derby with jackasses.Thats country talk for you need to get better players.lol

Great post IMO

Vol Colonel from Basilio, for what it is worth (not much).

The Gruden deal is not going to happen, I can say that today and feel absolutely certain, that it's over. Sunday around 4pm I had a conversation with someone heavily involved in this whole search process that told me the Gruden deal is now over and it's not coming back and i can promise you his word is gold. You may hear otherwise from other people who want to believe it's still alive, but it's dead as a doornail.

Press Conferecne speaking abilities mean absolutely nothing.

His lack of speaking abilities could also point to why he has not had any high ranking recruiting classes. Before you say it is Louisville, others before Strong won there and won big. That is why I am skeptical if he would be a good fit.

All stand a better chance with a highly rated recruit over Strong in the living room of said recruit.

Preface: I am not advocating Bud Foster for HC

What do y'all think about Bud Foster from Virginia Tech? I think he would be a great DC, but I have a feeling if he ever leaves VT it will be for a HC position. If Hart is thinking about hiring a current DC for the HC position (e.g., Kirby Smart), I would much prefer Foster to almost any other DC out there. He's got 17 years of proven DC experience and is a hell of a recruiter. Thoughts?

FYI... Gundy buyout is $3,000,000. Dont think the big $$$$ donors want their money used to pay Gundy's buyout; Strong's buyout is $2,500,000.

Tennessee should use prospective buyout money for Gruden's assistant coaches!!!!

Do you guys think Tony Dungy would listen if we contacted him? I mean,he was seriously considering the Ole Miss job just a year ago

I had a former player who asked me the same question, as I was singing the praises of Gruden to him, ... this was actually two weeks ago last Saturday.

I laughed it off and made fun of him but

On the TFP article.Hargis was trained by 2 masters of there craft.Roy Exum and Larry Fleming. Two of the best news paper guys ever.I can guarentee you with out a shadow of doubt what he said happened in the article is what happened.Rumor down here is the follow up article is going to be a slammer also. Not sure when it will hit the press but could be some great entertainment.

That could mean either Hart or the money men!

Are you really taking me serious? I'm sorry you went to all that trouble. I thought it was funny you thought anyone would be talking about Jim Mora Sr. If you've followed this search at all, you should know Jim Mora Jr. is the one in discussion. I'm not trying to be being mean, but dang. Do you not remember Jim Mora Sr's rant during a post-game interview when he was asked about the playoffs?

Playoffs?

Money will never be put in its place. It runs the show....period!

Did anyone else hear what Hyams said on 104.5 this morning that he believes Hart is doing interviews in NYC and that is where he thinks he interviewed Gundy???

Tony Dungy.....NO! His son is a WR at Oregon Ducks right now, which is why he isn't coaching in the NFL. When his son is done Dungy will go back to the NFL. I think he quit to spend this time with his youngest son since the death of his oldest son several years ago.

I just can't get excited over Strong.

It disgusts me to see someone play the race card when they don't get what they want.

In 2009 he blamed racism for why he hadn't been offered a HC job.

If you watch any of his press conferences, you might come to the conclusion that it could be his absolutely horrible public speaking skills (something important for a representative of a university)....and not racism.
I don't give a $hit if he can't put a complete sentence together as long as he can take us to the promise land. We need a coach nota Rhodes scholar.

I agree. Being from close to the same area as you, I have read the TFP for years. They are a class act.

A week ago Larry Fleming's son posted on here. Larry Fleming's reputation is impeccable.

That's certainly a fair stance but I think his reputation as a recruiter when he was recruiting in the SEC suggest he will hold his own just fine. It's certainly not a slam dunk I admitt
