Agree the SEC is gonna be like a nuclear arms race.With all the TV money coming in its gonna get ugly quick.I could at somepoint see sec schools competing with the nfl for coaches.

He basically said, I don't know where things stand, but I will tell you another coach on our staff went to Knoxville in the last 2 weeks to look at schools and houses. Now I'm not suggesting, and neither was he, that this means anything on where things stand today. But it is another clear indication that real conversations have been occurring for quite a while.

First post just to say that this one of the few times I'm actually HOPING for a conspiracy theory to be accurate! Ugh, outside of Gruden and a couple of NFL names, I'm really not liking these coaching candidates very much.

I know it's not a popular opinion but I think Fulmer was a better coach than any of these being discussed and the 2 HC hires following his firing. I think it was time for Fulmer to retire but NO ONE can convince me the program is in better shape now than when he was fired.

Depends on who it is and how much.

There are a ton of boosters, most mid-level (50k to 500k).

If Hart did screw up on the big money folks, then he will be dispatched with a pink slip.

That being said, it sounds awfully suspicious that Hart is apparently flying all over the country conducting interviews (by reports) roughly every 3 hours. Strong, Fisher, Gundy, etc - Either Hart has clones of himself working overtime, racking up frequent flyer miles, or we have to understand that most of these conversations/interviews are just BS.

It seems like a simple stalling tactic, I don't see why more people don't realize that. It's like whipping out the laser pointer for you cat and chuckling as it chases it all over the place. LOOK OVER THERE FOLKS! NO, WAIT, OVER HERE! It's the oldest trick in high-profile hiring 101.

Like others have mentioned above, if this goes to Friday without a definitive front-runner or likely imminent deal in place - I really think it paints a pretty clear picture of who the real guy is and has been all along. Even if these sitdowns and interviews are taking place, it's due diligence in a situation like this. Even if Gruden was the guy, and Hart knew that from the getgo, you have to interview other candidates - it's just part of the process.

Best I can offer. I have several friends within the active NFL coaching community. The coaching community in the NFL is a bit like a fraternity and very much into each others business. They see things, hear about things and then ask questions about things. With the number of coaches that have crossed back and forth between the NFL and college, the interest now extends beyond just the NFL. Let's just say some trips have been made and other coaches have seen them, asked about them and know more than they're supposed to know. That's all I can say.

I can respect your view on Gruden, even though I disagree.

I've been impressed with the way some of the "insiders" in the Gruden thread have handled themselves. It's clear to me now they really, really believed it and are very confused by this outcome. I honestly wasn't sure how many were trolls, how many were taking fragments of information a little too far, etc. I think these guys were honestly blindsided.

I still don't believe we ever had that good of a shot and I think the resolution to the puzzle is that Gruden wasn't truly interested. But that's my opinion.
