Is it really worth 4 to 5 million to take a chance on Gundy being able to compete in the SEC? I'm also sure he will want a hefty buyout considering our current state of affairs. No way he is worth the risk at that price tag. Not to mention Gundy will not unite the fan base nor will he garner much excitement.

I agree completely. I think Gundy is a risk. Just what I'm saying is UT will have to offer a substantial raise to come here. Like Bama did when hiring Saban. Bama got lucky by not getting Rich Rod which they would have probably got for less money than Saban, but you see what Rich Rod did at Mich. Anyway, the 4 mil then for Saban was unheard of. According to my memory though.

No I don't want Gundy.
I want Gruden...anything else would be disappointing to at least some degree.

LMAO.... come on man

First, I'd like to say yes, Gruden would be wonderful, but watching the last 3-4 UT coaching hires I've never seen the big boosters involved in any coaching hire at UT. What makes anyone think this hire will be any different?

That's what I'm thinking. A lot of the posters with sources have stopped posting particular after everyone said it was a done deal.

This scenario looks very familiar if you ask me.

It could be that the AD had a meeting and told all employees to stop talking, posting, etc. or they would be on the outside looking in. IMO.

I have been hearing quotes like "we have a chance at getting a nice coach"...."we will get someone solid"...."whoever we get will be better than Dooley". Wow, we really are THAT program now.

I do not want a "good, nice, solid ect." coach...

We have forgotten that we are the University of by dam Tennessee... we just let CANDY kick our arse and we are now willing to settle for good, solid or nice

That Sucks lemons for sure

:hi: yes x 1000

I can't wait to come in here and tell everyone that doubted I told you. It will be awesome.

But if a total disaster happens I will come in here and eat crow. But that's not happening.

When you say "we will know something on the Gruden front this week" does that mean we will know if it's happening or just know more information about the situation?

Meanwhile, Alabama just won another SEC Championship by paying tons of money for a home run hire.

It is sad but as I said earlier it isn't my money to spend since we need big boosters to get this done we have to take what they give us. If they can live with tens of thousands of empty seats I guess I can as well.

I think you're right. I have to add that this is insane. I understand that a good coach is worth it. These salaries really demonstrate the money that college football can make you; only about one fifth of athletic departments made a profit last year. However, some made bank. As in mucho banko.

I think we are just seeing the beginning too. I think we will see $10,000,000 coach within five years. JMO

Fulmer's ends this month is what I've heard.

I know they are paid in installments.......so we have Dooley, his staff until they find new jobs, the new coach buyout from his current school, buyouts for any of his staff that have one and we still have to pay all the new guys.

Hasn't Hart made a point of saying how shocked he is over the UTAD financials?

Yea, but I guess my point was that even the buyout payed to the new coaches previous employer will be staggered. So there will likely be some begging going on to get boosters on the hook for those future payments in the event that the AD is unable to make them.

I do not believe anyone in this thread who does a driveby.... If you can't come into this thread, defend yourself and answer honest questions.... I do NOT want to hear it

I'm sorry you fell that way. My aim was to offer encouragement. But clearly that doesn't meet your standard. I happen to respect my sources enough to adhere to their instructions and don't want to do anything to harm those relationships. But given your comments, noone is interested in encouragement, so I will say no more.

Apparently Gundy has canceled his radio interview on Sirius 91, which he is on every Monday.

Ron... your thoughts?

First we hear from Skeeter that Strong was going to be offered? now this from Gundy? Some have been sure on Jimbo/ I even saw Dabo's name last night!

Is this still part of a large cover-up.... I just don't freaking know anymore what I think?

Somewhat fluid, but no later than weekend before Christmas.

Not flaming, just questioning..

You're like me. Joined this forum about a week an a half ago. I've brought what I think are decent discussion thoughts to the table, but no inside info because I only have a couple friends who might know something.. But I'm not an insider.

For the sake of what you're bringing to the table, could you make a case to us that you're not a troll? Thanks in advance.
