The control issue in statement, I feel that gruden should have 100% control over the program. If you want to win in sec you need all the control, and support needed to succeed. NOW DAVE FRIGGIN HART GIVE THE MAN CONTROL AND SHUT UP!!!!!!

and. SOON

in college football there are just certain things the univ must control. Just the way it is

So, Gundy would require about 3.5-4m a year plus a 3M buyout to pull him from OSU... Strong would cost about 3M plus 2m buyout to pull him from Louisville. So, does anyone have a clue what, if any, the buyout is for Gruden? I think his pay if you include other coaches buyouts, is/would be competitive enough to just suck it up, we need it.

Tony Basilio reports that Mike Gundy has called a team meeting today at 2:45. LWS has reported we ahve interviewed him twice not sure what to think.

Best I can offer. I have several friends within the active NFL coaching community. The coaching community in the NFL is a bit like a fraternity and very much into each others business. They see things, hear about things and then ask questions about things. With the number of coaches that have crossed back and forth between the NFL and college, the interest now extends beyond just the NFL. Let's just say some trips have been made and other coaches have seen them, asked about them and know more than they're supposed to know. That's all I can say.

Is this guy a troll? What do you mean that's all you can say? This is an anonymous message board. Has Dave Hart tapped into your Internet feed?

Gundy buyout 3 million

Strong buyout 2.5 million

Thank you. So we are going to spend another $2.5+ million on buyouts when we could have upped the money to help give Grude what he wanted for his assistants? I may be wrong but I don't think there is a buyout in the ESPN contract if he finishes out the year right? Gruden is not the only homerun hire, but he is the only one we had at our fingertips that has any interest in coming. No name mentioned besides Stoops(we know he is not leaving OU) is in the same ballpark as JG.

Because, like the fans, they are fed up

Belive in Peyton Manning. He doesn't have the cash as the other fat cats but he is the heart and soul of UT. If he can sell Americans Buicks he can sell anything IMO Peyton sold gruden on the UT job.

That's why is so nice to have as much Tennessee blood on our side as possible. Greater allegiance means greater willingness to contribute equalling better results.

My plan got ruined. Was gonna use some of my $500mill powerball winnings to bribe Hart into letting me get in on the coach search. Only missed by 5 numbers! :banghead2:

:lolabove: I don't care who you are, that's funny.

:dance2: imo. Spoke with him briefly - he back pedaled a bit on the timing of the visit - said it could have been earlier in the season around a bye week. But other than that was still kind of coy about the whole thing.

Thanks.. All I wanted to know

Depends on who it is and how much.

There are a ton of boosters, most mid-level (50k to 500k).

If Hart did screw up on the big money folks, then he will be dispatched with a pink slip.

If the 6 million per year is to be used strictly for funding a coaching staff, with current buyouts and possible new staff buyouts the AD could be looking at paying upwards of $250K per month before the even start the new payroll.

So if we pay Strong 3 million we will be paying out 7.5 million next year for football. I think I just threw up my food thinking about that...

and you can have Gruden and an All-Star Staff for about 10 million!!!!

Think about that and let that sink in!!!

Maybe Gundy and Strong are being hired at UT to be Gruden's assistants.

Agree the SEC is gonna be like a nuclear arms race. With all the TV money coming in its gonna get ugly quick.I could at somepoint see sec schools competing with the nfl for coaches.

Might benefit UT though. Historically we have had a large fan base and supportive. Nearly every sporting event on TV has someone in the crowd wearing a orange UT coat or something. Also, Tennessee may not produce a lot of football recruits, but does seem to produce successful coaches at least in the past. Spurrier, Fulmer, Mack Brown, Lloyd Carr all won NC and all came from areas within the UT foot print. Hears to better days hopefully for UT.
