But why the secrecy if he was coming here? Couldn't he just announce he was coming here (which doesn't conflict with NFL) and fulfill his year with ESPN? Of all things concerning a "smokescreen" this is where I hit my snag. If there is a smokescreen, there has to be some reason for secrecy.

I'm afraid us Grudenites have shifted concepts from "the smokescreen" to "smoke and mirrors". Fun to keep the dream alive until reality strikes us.

So you got that Smokey? You must have read about it in ahistory book because I know a 25yr old would know nothing of it? :hi:

I got it. I know what happened and I also spent many a dollar getting portions of old text books in that place. :)

CLASS OF 88!!!!! GO VOLS

Consider this. So what if the reports of Gruden speaking with potential assistants are true? But what if he was speaking with them on behalf of someone else? What if someone else well known in NFL coaching circles said, "Hey Jon, with your ESPN duties, you'll have contact with some guys, how 'bout guaging their interest in the college game."

How much does Gruden receive for each game?..ESPN could just throw Dilfer on there and save a couple of million or whatever the per game number total left in season number is and say goodbye to him which we do not want to have to pony up and cover...a thought as to why I am commited to ESPN..just trying to keep my job messaging from agent paid to lie and Gruden on Mike and Mike..and also litigation if there is something in contract that does not allow negotiating while under covenants of agreement….A thought

Is the well know person coaching at the moment?

OK, I listened to the Zook interview. They asked him whether he thought Gruden would be back in the booth or in coaching. Zook said it was funny they mentioned that because he got a text at 3:15AM that morning from Gruden and that actually he was going to go down to see Gruden in Tampa on 11/30 (the day of the denials). Said that two weeks before 11/29 he would have said Gruden would be coaching, but now, just off gut feeling, thinks that Gruden would be back in the ESPN booth.

What was the urgency of a 3:15 am text and follow-up visit to Tampa if Gruden is staying at ESPn?

What? Why 11/30? Gruden was supposed to be in DC on that day interviewing RG3.

I think the RG3 interview was on 12/1

The media is playing the fanbase like puppets. Hart is doing a good job distracting who he is really after.

This.

If Hart were really after any of these guys, why would he suddenly wait this long to start the interviews THIS week? It appears someone is wanting our attention shifted away from Gruden or Stoops or some other unknown mystery candidate.

IMHO.

Well we made it up and down the towering hill of the roller coaster. Now time for the loopty loops. Then the end of the ride where will we will be greeted with Jon Friggin Gruden.

... so Gruden is calling assistant's on someone else's behalf that is currently in the NFL? Or outside of the NFL?

That would be weird info that would directly contradict the Times Free Press report, the Memphis report, and the OG's info.
