But why the secrecy if he was coming here? Couldn't he just announce he was coming here (which doesn't conflict with NFL) and fulfill his year with ESPN? Of all things concerning a "smokescreen" this is where I hit my snag. If there is a smokescreen, there has to be some reason for secrecy.
Oh yeah..I understood it perfectly b/c I've heard about "faxgate" and the story behind it.
I'm afraid us Grudenites have shifted concepts from "the smokescreen" to "smoke and mirrors". Fun to keep the dream alive until reality strikes us.
Consider this. So what if the reports of Gruden speaking with potential assistants are true? But what if he was speaking with them on behalf of someone else? What if someone else well known in NFL coaching circles said, "Hey Jon, with your ESPN duties, you'll have contact with some guys, how 'bout guaging their interest in the college game."
OK, I listened to the Zook interview. They asked him whether he thought Gruden would be back in the booth or in coaching. Zook said it was funny they mentioned that because he got a text at 3:15AM that morning from Gruden and that actually he was going to go down to see Gruden in Tampa on 11/30 (the day of the denials). Said that two weeks before 11/29 he would have said Gruden would be coaching, but now, just off gut feeling, thinks that Gruden would be back in the ESPN booth.
What? Why 11/30? Gruden was supposed to be in DC on that day interviewing RG3.
The media is playing the fanbase like puppets. Hart is doing a good job distracting who he is really after.
