A transponder doesn't file a flight plan, it simply allows the ATC to 'see' your aircraft better on radar. Even if a flight plan is filed, that doesn't make the information available to the public. Even if the information is available to the public, you gotta know the tail number. I'm a 53 year old pilot, btw.

Just ignore him. He's literally 1 of only 2 people on my ignore list.

For a lot of people this will just feed the narrative of "oh, those Tennessee fans are just a bunch of crazies!"

I blame John Currie for feeding that narrative, even if unintentional. He's paid to be smarter than this.

I spoke with one of my two contacts after the Schiano nonsense broke. This person is still in on Gruden, and had warned me that info from AD would be misdirection, but was absolutely furious that Schiano's name was used for this purpose. It was out of left field for my person, and the response to Schiano has been almost universally negative, internally.

What I think (OPINION) happened goes something like this. Someone decided that in an effort to make Currie's last minute reveal of Gruden a superheroic "Currie saved us" moment, that Schiano would be a good name to use for that purpose. Horrible decision. His name has no business anywhere near this University. Even the inevitable backtracking makes us look bad: "Schiano decides he doesn't want to coach for us because of our fans."

Horribly conceived and executed misdirect, IMO. Whoever came up with it should be ashamed. And the people making the decisions need to seriously stop worrying about John Currie's image and get on with business.

John Currie killed Tennessee football today. I don't even know if hiring Gruden will save it. And I wonder if all the Gruden stuff were true if he doesn't back out now.

I'm a PR and marketing VP for a decent-sized company. This is a textbook example of a PR disaster. And every second the university doesn't respond, it just gets worse.

People will lose their jobs over this. Unfortunately, it will probably be PR folks who got handed a mess by the guy in charge rather than the fool who made such a tone-deaf decision to start with.

This thread has been a lot of fun for many of us who previously never posted. I for one appreciate the information that is shared and realize situations change, I refused to believe UT would consider hiring someone with such low morales.

I hope the thread returns to a least some resemblance of what it was.

He was an enabler. Currie has no common sense if he thought this could work. Shiano innocent or not would have never been able to overcome the negative recruiting.

I’m still full Gruden until someone else is at the podium. But if this was meant to be a smokescreen, it went terribly wrong and could possiblly cost Currie his job as well as others.

My problem with your supposition is the fact that John Currie is physically in Columbus, OH as I type this sentence.

if thats true, he would be real smart to stay there.
