Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIII

I'm sorry I mean this respectfully but anyone that still believes we are getting Gruden at this point are just delusional. This has been proven to be much more than just a "smokescreen." It took everything TN fans had just to stop it from becoming reality.

If Gruden was a "done deal" our program would not currently be the center of negative attention across the country.

I’m done with gruden. I was on board but he’s not coming and I’m pissed he trolled us and didn’t shut it down like last time. There were even reports THIS MORNING about him
being in play

It’s over. Again. 2012 all over again but way worse this time. WAY worse

All we can hope for is a decent coach at this point

I don’t think he trolled anyone. A good bit of people had the sense to know that wasn’t happening. Others just wanted it so bad that they let others dupe them into believing it was so. Gruden never said or did anything to lead anyone to believe there was a massive chance of him coming here.

Unfortunately this is our fan base and no one has a clue if Currie even had anything at all to do with it. Yes protest the possibility of the coach coming in, but Currie is innocent until he is not. A little ridiculous

It’s curries job. Even if he’s a puppet. If my job was on the line for hiring a potential criminal then I wouldn’t

Before I respond, are you saying we aren’t sure if Currie had anything to do with a Schiano job offer?

I would say confidently that the powers that be in the administration drastically underestimated the power of the fan base. The coaching search should have actually been very simple, i.e. Gruden is who we want, and there are about 2 others you could get that wouldn’t spark a protest.

I remember a mod here telling me Blackburn had the stones to tell high level boosters where to get off the bus....

Maybe that's the ace to be played?

If this really was just smokescreen or Currie throwing his buddy a bone, it has to be the dumbest move by any AD of all time. He just completely destroyed his buddy’s career. Great job Currie. That’s what you get when you play games instead of just getting to the point.
If he really was gonna hire him, which I believe is the truth because Schiano would have shut it down himself if it weren’t true, then he just destroyed his own career.

Beaver latest

I said 100% chance Schiano would NOT be official - Every level above Currie and most power players would veto the hire. This is a damn fight, Vol Nation has to exert it?s influence (what I have been trying to do this entire time) to get the hire we all want.

My question is, why is there a need to fight for a coach that is a done deal?

This 100%. I don't like being part of a mass social experiment. This isn't MK-Ultra. Everything should be questioned. Those providing inside information should not be offended (develope a case of red-a$$) when the information is challenged. I wouldn't, realistically, expect anyone in an open forum to hang on my every word. Especially if it is delivered in the style of Nostradamus.

Preface this by saying, for the umpteenth time, I'm still in on Gruden. It's not about whether anyone believes me, it's about trusting the what I was told and the person who told me. I absolutely do, and internet admirers and scoffers alike aren't going to change that for me.

Opinion to follow:

This is Haslam. Last minute attempt to do EXACTLY what he did in 2012. Back door an unacceptable coach in an attempt at grasping and clawing to remain the controlling force behind UT Athletics. I don't say guiding force, because that would imply a direction in mind.

It's about the control, plain and simple. It's gone on too long. It has to stop. If the Haslams won't step aside graciously, they need to be forced aside.

I'm still on Gruden, and I hope that the people who did the very real work to get him to the Hill will send the message home to the Haslams for the last time, that their time is DONE.

One person's opinion, FWIW.

This exactly. This is about more than a coach. This is a power struggle to get the old guard out and fix the program. Do we really want the group running the browns to continue driving our bus. I think not. There is plenty of new money to come in. This program can survive without the iron fisted control of the Haslams. Better yet it will begin to thrive without it.

All this doesn't matter anymore. A deal was supposedly already signed, which was not.

If I'm Gruden after todays reports I tell anybody and everybody at UT not no but Hell no.

The radio show where he told them not to bring it up and said he loves rocky top etc.

He didn’t shut it down like last time. I’m done with him. Our next coaching search we should leave him out of it.

Even if Currie trots out Gruden, he is done. He will be booed every time he shows face in Knoxville.

Not if he denies pursuing Schiano and states that the media ran with a story based on inaccurate info. "I did not have negotiations with that man, Greg Schiano"

Your high on crack! You don't handle it this way. Fan base in meltdown, politicians getting involved.....right

No dumbass, I am just saying things were not potentially as aligned with boosters and the AD as had been indicated and this potentially proves it...

What we do know is Currie has done absolutely NOTHING to diffuse the situation. He has to be a complete idiot not to have squelched this cluster****, whether he created it or not.

Innocent? Currie has the ears of everyone, local and national media. He witnessed the turmoil and outrage happening, and he could have put this fire out with one press release, even one tweet and yet he remained silent.

This entire ****storm could have been quelled with ease, something as simple as "UT is not in negotiations with Schiano". Problem solved, and this day never happens. He couldn't do that though, because the story was true and this dolt did try to hire Schiano.

#FireCurrie , and do it tonight.

He's not being hired. Schiano will never Coach here. It's already been reported that negotiation has ended.

Would you negotiate with Schiano with Gruden in the bag already? I’m guessing not. So would you like to be our new AD? Because you are smarter than the current one if any of the insider stuff is true.

Then you're in the wrong thread, skippy!! GTFO

I know what UTVolinExile is posting about Gruden.

However, Ohio State insiders stated that Currie was in Columbus today talking to Schiano. I don't think this was a smoke screen.

TIFWIW.

If there is any truth to Currie being in Columbus today, it at least explains why this dumpster fire was allowed to burn for so long.

If he put UT through all this just to hire an old buddy...

What? Please explain? I'm ready to debate this.

If I loose you it because I keep getting kicked off VN.....lol

I don't think Gruden is over yet... I think the changing of the guard (so to speak) may have included Currie all along with several others .... I tried to point this out but was often said about me that I was to unstable to understand ...lol

I even thought the Blackburn article was putting added pressure on Currie to hire Gruden... but I have saw person after person who (when you apply pressure) they buckle and go rouge.. I think this is what happened to Currie and he will now be replaced... plan completed
