I agree if it was Gruden we would be hearing leaks by now. Currie can keep his employees quiet but no way he could control ESPN employees or potential staff employees.

Again, this is a win/win for espn... they don't have to "fire" a big prime time personality and they save over 25 million... they will stay quiet for that kind of return. On top of that, everyone wants to keep their job there when it's already volitile so they won't say a word for fear of getting axed either.

This is fascinating. I agree something should have been leaked either way right now and I believe UT has their coach already so it’s not for a lack of decision that the media is confused. So this leads me to one (hopeful) conclusion:

Currie has his man and it’s good. Real good. He also has an amazing ability to keep a tight lid on information which is respectable in this day and age.

But most importantly - maybe he’s giving a “**** you” to the current media covering UT sports. Maybe he wants to put Hyams and others in their place and let them know that they aren’t going to be privy to all insider information. I’m not sure what the strategy would be here, but maybe he’s just breaking up the “old guard” and starting fresh from top to bottom.

Of the names on that list, two are highly acceptable to Vol fans: Gruden and Petersen.

Campbell, like him, but he hasn't proven anything yet except having a single good season at a historically bad football school.

Taggart, pretty respectable, but why leave a job at Oregon after a single year?

And why is the blue eff does Mullen keep coming up? HE IS NOT A FREAKING HIGH CALIBER COACH! If he was so wonderful, another team would have grabbed him up already. Nobody, and I do mean NOBODY to include the NFL has ever even hinted they want him. And don't give me this buyout nonsense. Everyone except the select few that suffer from Battered Vol Syndrome and love to settle for mediocrity would ever consider him coming here a good thing. And we will repeat a coaching search in 3-5 years.

I like this idea. I’m sick of the media covering UT sports tripping over themselves to report every negative thing about UT in some effort to look unbiased. Time for them to get on board and help make this thing work. I say keep them all in the dark.

I am all gruden but if it came down between Mullen and Campbell I’d take a shot at Campbell. At least he has beaten highly ranked teams lol
