Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIII

I am all gruden but if it came down between Mullen and Campbell I’d take a shot at Campbell. At least he has beaten highly ranked teams lol

If it came down to Mullen, Campbell or Bing McGoogle, my plan would be to offer Mike Norvell a reasonable salary of about $3-3.5 mil and make him earn his raises.

We aren't getting Mullen for less than $5 mil a year or probably more. IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY TO GET HIM OUT OF STARKVILLE!

Campbell has serious buyout money problems. Is not proven as a HC in big boy football, but could be a contender in time. But he is NOT at the level of "home run" at this point.

Norvell shows serious promise and will go to a P5 school this round. There isn't a significant buyout that I'm aware of from Memphis and he's developing talent at a high level. And appears to be a good recruiter since he swayed Ferguson from Texas, a known traditional power, to Tiger High. Norvell is the "safe" hire that doesn't come with a huge price tag involved.

Regardless, I'm still on the Gruden train and can only hope Currie can back up that grin.

"And speaking of Twitter, a bunch of our current players decided to follow VFL Tee Martin on Twitter recently. Being that Martin was spoken of behind the scenes in our Grumors, this very well could be significant. I doubt the team has been told as loose lips sink ships and all, but I have this feeling even the team members can see the way the winds are blowing."

Look for the small hints.
JG is coming.

I searched Tee’s followers and until I gave up searching I only found Gaulden and Trey Smith

The thought of Mullen, Norvell, or Campbell in Orange makes me want to string myself up with piano wire.

So the facility crew getting things done asap, that was for real or nah?

It’s true according to one of the head groundskeepers (@UTKcainTURF) on Twitter.

Also looks like the rumor of the field being repainted was also true.

I want Gruden orbPetersen badly but I’m not out in a guy like Campbell either as the next big up and comer. I am 100 percent out on Schiano and Currie should just resign.

Assuming Malzahn stays put, Arky will come after Norvell hard with a real offer that gives him guaranteed time to rebuild and they can pay $4 million or more. Basically, I don't think Norvell is going to have to accept some sort of heavily-stringed deal just to get an SEC gig at a school where he can win. Too me, that puts him in the same camp as Campell. Plus, I don't think anything good has come out of Memphis since Elvis but I admit that is just personal bias.

Not good enough for UT.

I know you are a grudenite, however, if you take the stance that anyone but gruden is not good enough, you are doomed to being unhappy about who UT hires.

There is the fantasy of who is interested in the UT job and then there is reality.
