Lot of angst up in here tonight that is not directed at the right people. The ones you should be pouring your sentiment out to are Currie, Davenport, and Haslam. They are the three stooges that tried to ramrod this bogus deal through. Email, text, call whatever you feel comfortable with doing and let them know their actions are irresponsible, unacceptable, and in the case of Currie and Davenport, firable. Leave your fellow Vols alone who only brought what they felt was good information to an internet board dedicated to UT athletics.

Fellas I am absolutely astonished!!!

Greg Schiano has 6 winning seasons out of 11 at Rutgers with one 10 win season, all of which were back in the Big East days when the Big East was a vanilla conference. He has not been a head coach at the Power 5 level. He was run out of Tampa Bay with reports of him creating a toxic environment amongst his team.

This is the guy that we were on the cusp of entrusting with the reigns of our Vols? After we just fired Butch cause he couldn't get it done and had created a toxic environment! Oh and he also comes with being named in possibly the most publicized scandal in College Sports History with covering up the rape of little kids! Only 2 short years after getting blistered in a Title IX rape scandal!

What the He!! is Currie and company smoking up on the Hill to even have this joker as a candidate?! And to offer him potentially millions of dollars and entrust him with moving our program forward after suffering our worst season ever?

The more I look at this the more I am at a loss for words. Currie and whoever entertained this needs to be shown the door immediately. This is pure ignorance!

Anyone who calls themselves a "VFL" knows that the Vol fanbase is an inferno right now. And there isn't one good reason to let it continue for another hour.

Too much smoke around the Schiano story. If this was Currie, he's toast.

This is turning into a nightmare, and someone is going to have to answer for it before it's all over.

I don't think Peyton, Phil, or anyone is going to step forward and address this until Currie does.

They aren't going to make themselves a focal point of the backlash, and they shouldn't.

Either the Brb or Currie need to step forward and take the heat.

THEN and only then after Currie is gone should someone step forward and lead the program out of this.

Did we know it? If not I don’t see us paying him jack $h@+ and Currie can save face that way. If so Currie and Davenport can be fired for that alone.

Fire Currie. Release a statement that Schiano wasn’t properly vetted before an offer was made. Don’t say anything about the Sandusky deal but just say that UT is looking for a coach with impeccable merits on and off the field. Name someone like Fulmer as interim AD and give him all the money he needs to attract anyone.

Can someone explain to me why the Haslams want us to be terrible? To have "yes men" in the AD rather than "right men for the job"? Serious question, my wife just asked me how it benefits them for them to have control but us be terrible, and I don't have a logical answer. Anyone?

The Haslams have run UT for years. They want to retain their power. Currie was their hire. Currie was just a pawn PIO for the Haslams. Currie will fall on the sword and the Haslams will continue on.

Chris Low on ESPN reporting that Tennessee backed out of a memorandum of understanding due to fan and state rep backlash. States that not sure if financial ramifications on the memorandum. What a cluster.

I thought MOU's were never binding, just basically used to get details of what would be signing if decide to sign official contract?

I thought last night was bad. Today is a day I will never forget nor forgive. I hate John Currie and I hate whoever backed his play on Schiano.

Today is a day that will live in VN infamy. We have been betrayed in the most heinous of ways.

Today we have witnessed the death of the Tennessee Volunteers football program. We will not recover from this. We are now the dregs of the SEC, a once elite program consigned to embarrassment and mockery. From traditional college football royalty, to court jesters.

I'm sorry for the depressing rant, but I am devastated.

He never trolled anyone. You guys trolled each other with these goofy threads. He never once said or did anything indicating a high chance of him coming to coach here. Not that I saw anyway. People saw things or heard things and spun them to fit their agenda. That’s all. Time to be real and move on.

Depends upon the wording of it. Certainly not the full value of the contract, but I'm sure there is a penalty of some sort for both sides.
