So how is the admin going to respond when/if fire Currie signs pop up on WWE Raw tomorrow night? A nationally televised show in prime time

It's very true in my neck of Knoxville. Not one neighbor or friend complained about his record. They turned the air blue in regard to his Sandusky involvement though.

I dislike him for both. one 1000x more than the other obviously, but they're both unacceptable.

Appreciate you guys taking my post to heart and dialing back on the personal attacks and name calling. I know everyone is upset, mad, angry, etc., so I appreciate the effort. Thank you. :hi:

So what's left? Gruden, Frost, Norvelle, or Kiffin.

Brohm, Martin, Miles, Sumlin..Kiffin isn't and never will be an option. Give me Miles or Brohm any day over Frost and Norvell. I wouldn't even consider Tee but apparently we have reached out to Brohm and Tee today after the Schiano screw up.

All these insiders are so upset. I’m sorry, I didnt call Gruden a “done deal” or he was “signed”. You all built your bed, this is what you get.

I am a good ways behind...but why don’t you give it a rest. These guys surely feel betrayed just like their sources. If you don’t have anything positive to add, just don’t add anything at all. No one had to believe these guys, this is a discussion forum. Believe what you want or don’t want.

I was not really proud of this until now. When I was at UT we would get our kegs from the Pilot at the end of the strip. We would pay inside and they would trust us to go into the cooler to get the kegs.

Once inside we would switch the plastic tops that had the name of the beer, so we were paying for Coors but getting better beer. Screw those guys.

I’d like to apologize as well. When I reported info, I named the names of the mid level boosters, the one man within the AD and even a BOT member. I’ve read texts with my own eyes and spoke to second hand informed people in person. I’m a die hard Vol fan who grew up with season tickets. I fully believed we were getting gruden. I’m sorry that hasn’t happened and until we get a new AD it will not happen.

Let me tell you what I have heard.

The mid level boosters are backing off their pledges to the renovations of Neyland. They have heard the big boys are as well. It’s almost unanimous that they want Currie out. I don’t see him making it through this. The chattanooga guys are all pushing hard for Blackburn. It appears that has gained traction throughout the night in Knoxville. The understanding is Currie was telling certain boosters what they wanted to hear and working with Haslam in private.

We are fortunate that these boosters and VFL received a leak about schiano becoming the next head coach. This promoted them to use their connections and get our congressmen and the next potential governor to weigh in. This political pressure was what broke the camels back. Currie was prepared to trot schiano out and the fans would end their protests and move on within the week. This political pressure also forced Espn to show the tweets. This was much more influential then most are aware.

Don’t eat your own. This isn’t anyone’s fault on the board. That’s a fact.
Thank you..What is needed to kick the carcass off the road?..

Kudos to your efforts Freak. I haven't lost access at all during this 6 week long coaching search. Whatever lessons were learned from the '09 and '12 searches were applied expertly.

Well done my friend. :good!:

If this wasn't a giant troll job by our "insiders", will they admit that they probably shouldn't listen to their "sources" from now on?

The only person who could push the Haslams out of the way is someone who wields a bigger stick, and there is at least one such person. Consider this: Currie's secrecy was broken by someone today just in the nick of time. The outrage that followed was big and explosive, and we got lucky that the offer was rescinded. Who caused this information to be divulged while there was still time for things to change? I hate being in the dark - we all do. It's like we get brief glimpses of things that are occurring behind the scenes, but never enough to paint a clear picture.

This isn't over, and it's not going to be over anytime SOON. I'm highly skeptical of most everything now, but of this I am sure - if someone hadn't let the cat out of the bag AND if we didn't have the most loyal (and pissed-off) fans and alumni in the world, we would have been watching Greg Schiano on a podium in Knoxville tonight or tomorrow. I've got no confidence in Currie or House of Haslam; however, there is more than luck involved in dodging the bullet that was headed our way today. Someone has our back and (whoever may be) is working against Currie and the Haslams with everything they've got.

I hope Currie does not survive this. I hope there is another AD in place tomorrow or Tuesday. If Currie stays, then there is little hope of attracting a high caliber coach. Who would want to come into our horrible mess knowing that they were Currie's second choice? A new AD erases the second choice factor. Gruden to the Hill might then still be a possibility.

How inept does he have to be to NOT see that coming?

Or is it a "I'm going to try to do this to appease Haslams, it won't work, and then we can do the right thing" ...?

Currie is Haslams yes man. It is why he was hired the way he was, Currie was following Daddy's orders.

If the University doesn't realize after this debacle that while Haslam can bankroll projects, he's more toxic thank his monetary worth then we are doomed as a program.

Haslams are the real issue and have to go. They do not value any other opinions than their own. They are the reason no coach of quality will come here, they meddle for the sake of meddling.

Saw this on Trey Wallace twitter feed.

Interesting. I figured Mullen would take UF over UT given the option. Figured Frost was just holding out for Nebraska all along. And yet Currie goes all bull in a china closet for Schiano when that guy was on nobody else's list and virtual rock stars (compared to Schiano) were still available. Makes no sense at all. Exactly what we've come to expect over there on the hill.

Was this Beavers plan all along to plant Gruden as a done deal, get us riled up as a strong voice of opposition to force the admin, including Currie, for change? To expose the Haslams to the public outside of this forum?

How it's gone about is of little importance when the objective is to get JIM HASLAM out of UT athletics. If fans can't understand this plan on many more games such as witnessed this year. Folks need to stand up and demand change.

Why would I ignore you? I’ll just continue to point out the ignorant little game you’re playing instead :)

Why is this so hard for so many to see??? This was a total and utter screw you from Currie and Haslam. NOBODY saw this coming. How can you keep calling them trolls when the information was never proven wrong?? It didn’t have a chance! Currie did this on his own! If they said Gruden is going to be our coach and then he said he wasn’t, then roast them. But this isn’t that.

It was the first thing I thought about as well. When I actually looked at his Rutgers record I was surprised because I assumed it was much better thinking he had several double digit win seasons.
