Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIII

Who in the blue hell ever thought we'd turn to Lane Kiffin for stability?

John Currie may very well be fired soon but I still bet money he hires the next football coach.

There are still fine options available albeit not as many as a few days ago but a case can be made that there isnt a better fit than Lane.

I bet considerable money a coach will be hired very soon and as things stand I'd rate our options... Kiffin,Frost,Sumlin,Martin,Cutcliffe.

At this point we'd have to throw a parade if we got any of them.

Right now Im guessing Currie turns to a man who is in need of a job and is a proven winner on each level...OJ Simpson.

Child rapists get treated worse than murderers in prison you know.

Lol, no they aren’t. They get their own part of the prisonfsr away from any harm.

If we were going the Coordinator route, it should have been Venables, but for some reason no one is mentioning him. I know it's the Gruden thread, I'm still on board, but very unsure it will happen.

As for now I would want: Gruden, Kiff, Venables (if going for a coordinator).

He’s not leaving Clemson.
His son is coming in nxt year and word has it he’s has zero interest in HC

Well guys, where do we go from here?

I would say the coaching search is the least of our worries. Start sending emails requesting the resignation of Currie and Davenport. If for no other reason, being complacent in the events of yesterday. A statement, at the very least should have been made.

If they had cameras there last night I’d bet a statement was taped

Now that I've had a chance to process the events of yesterday. My opinion is simple, no need for a coaching search at this time. The first order of business is to remove Currie from his post, ASAP. Now, you can choose to sit here and complain, or you can start sending emails. I tweeted Davenport yesterday evening and plan on sending emails once I get to work this morning. I still don't know what to make of what happened yesterday.....I cannot comprehend how Currie could not release a statement. Complacency will be my reasoning for his removal. If he was or wasn't meeting with Schiano, he had a responsibility to address the people that employee him, that is us!

The refusal of Currie to acknowledge or address the people concerning this search, wither intentional or not, comes off as arrogant and dismissive .... If I handled the folks at my business this way I would not have one in 30 days ....

If Currie is not fired after this cluster of events, then I have zero hope that Tennessee will ever be anything but a Vanderbilt East

Serious Question here.... how did Currie talking to Schaino make any sense whatsoever?

And there still has been no statement from the AD or the University! Have they ever talked to Peyton and Fulmer for advice? ( I read somewhere that Peyton and SChaino don't get along very well).

I guess I am just looking for answers....

Man I woke up this morning feeling like I’ve been kicked right square in the nuts. I don’t see any scenario where Gruden comes now. Maybe a slight chance if Blackburn ends up AD, but even then I feel like we’re all about to be highly disappointed. I hate to be all doom and gloom but I think we witnessed the death of TN football this weekend.

Because the Haslams are enamored with Schiano. There is no other reason.

I bet Currie didn't even bother to offer Mullen, now he's at Florida. Currie is probably to self-righteous to even go after Frost. Campbell's buy-out is too high, and jury is still out on Norvell. Why do we always have to look so incompetent and the laughing stock of the country?

Sometimes, it gets darkest right before the dawn.

Remember Alabama's Rich Rodriguez fiasco? And what it led to?

The only problem I have is that I question whether we have the administration to (1) recognize the problems and (2) find a good solution.

The problem I have...people are living in a fantasy world if they think he did not have the blessing of anyone other than Haslam. There had to be many involved for Schiano to get this far. I absolutely have NO faith we get a top tier coach with this loser at the helm. I'm so pissed this A.M. I can't see straight!!

Me too. Of all of the options out there, it appears that this is the guy that Currie locked into from the outset. Not Gruden, not Petersen, not Patterson, but freaking Schiano.

Currie clearly is incompetent.
