Better yet, if the minions stop buying into what the millions think they want, the millions will question why they are investing in something no one wants and has no value in the end. Its all about money and always will be. Think about that.

I think it also depends on where and how the big money guys got to where they are. If they worked for it and got there on their own merits, I would think their opinions would count for a lot more than any who inherited it. Typically those who earned their money have more sense and aren't prone to making snap decisions. They just think differently and they think long term.

Hoke isn't working here on a 1 year contract. That is silly.
Plus, he sucks.

Fire Currie, get the admin in order, oust the Haslam family, bring in Blackburn and do a proper search.

I think we should have learned by no that stating absolutes ends up blowing up in our face. I wouldn't put it past this administration to give Hoke an interim gig for a year, then after beating a FCS team giving him a 10 year contract with a 40M buyout.

Would like to see Signature DATES on the Memo of Understanding, wonder if we ever will??

This would reveal A LOT!!

Yea, calling out the "insiders" is. I have a few words I'd like to say to two, but it really doesn't matter. Is a message board.

The "not what you like to hear" is incorrect. I like to hear the best available info, good or bad.

Anyway, it's Peyton, with an E.

Also, I called you Old Mother just because I thought it was funny, not with a malicious intent.

You and I enjoyed the Old Mother and Sonny Boy banter.

And thanks for the Peyton spelling. I was in a hurry trying to multitask and typed a wrong letter.

I enjoy rational and thoughtful posts.

Enjoy your day.

Was the La Canfora article just a plant by Currie to try and say to fans "at least we tried" when he then shortly after that planned to announce Schiano?
Jon Gruden talking to Tennessee Volunteers about coaching vacancy - CBSSports.com

I honestly don't think Currie gave one **** about what the fanbase wanted. It was about 10th on the list of concerns for him and Haslam. They were going to make their hire and the fanbase was going to be forced to eat the **** sandwich.

Ok, decent point, but where to the investments they make get their return from ? Other millions or the sheeple ?

Their ROI is different. Its not a form of monetary value back to them. Think of it this way. If you had an extra 5 million every year to donate, you would pick UT because its your alma mater and you enjoy being with your friends on saturdays and buying into the product of the university. You may get a building in your name or sign, or something that is a pat on your back. But, lets say that Neyland is half full and your friends (who don't donate as much as you) decided to not come around anymore and save their money. So, do you invest or give money to something that is no longer perceived as value or entertainment? Or do you donate elsewhere something else with a real return?

Maybe the thread should be renamed, "The Official Hope Thread"?

Hard to believe we get to noon without a PR about yesterday. Get a clue AD/admin!

They don't care. They've dumbed a fanbase down to believing 8-4 is "good enough" and these "fans" keep putting their butts in seats. Until that mentality changes, they don't care.

Bring out the straight jacket because Tennessee Football is total insanity. You could not have screwed this up any worse if you had done it intentionally. I actually thought Currie had good sense and would lead us out of this wasteland. All this has taken its toll not only on UT but on Grudenites who seriously believed it would come to pass just because we were long overdue for something good to happen. Now we are right back to languishing in football purgatory. Not a good place to be.

I don't have any inside info on that side of the equation, but they HAVE to be scrambling big time now to figure out something, and I hope they fail at whatever plan is in store for us next, change is needed

My guess, based on info here, at what happened:

A group of boosters wanted Joh Gruden as coach. The Haslems, Currie and Davenport feigned support of the initiative. The booster group proceed to gauge Gruden's interest and what it would take to get him to UT. They came to general agreement over three weeks ago and even celebrated the agreement on Wednesday in Dunwoody, GA two weeks ago. While legal matters were being worked out, the Haslems, Currie and Davenport were pursuing their own agenda to maintain complete control of UT athletics. The Haslems, thinking they alone know what is best for UT, were enamored with Schiano when he previously interviewed for the Browns coaching job(this was before the release of the previously sealed testimony of the Sandusky case implicating Schiano, thus the lack of due diligence on Schiano, because they had already vetted him). They thought he was a better fit for UT than Gruden. They knew they couldn't sell Schiano to the other boosters, so they kept Currie and Davenport on a short leash and thought they could have the deal done before the other boosters could do anything about it. Once announced, the other boosters would be obliged to support their new coach. It would have worked except a member of the AD staff leaked the deal to other boosters and they mobilized the support of the UT BOT and legislators.

Yesterday aside, the past 2 months have been some of the most fun I’ve had in a long time even though the season sucked. When the OGs reunited, information began circulating, Beav and Bubba showed up, Hawk, SFD, and others piecing together the puzzle, Preacherwebb learning gifs, Doyle’s meter and who could forget GV’s updates... man, it was fun. I hate that it all ended like this but I hope this thread stays open if for nothing else to keep in touch. I don’t know how all this ends but I gotta believe that we can turn this thing around. I’m still here either way. Hope y’all are as well.
