Official Jon Gruden Thread XV

Someone needs to explain to me why Mora, Peterson, or Patterson are not getting any real consideration.

This^^

If we're not getting Gruden, why not Mora or Patterson.

Personally, I think Peterson is a wimp. I never bought into Boisie, and dont think Peterson was any good. He won A big game with gimmicks. His style couldn't survive the SEC.

Sometimes a huge hire is just not possible. When faced with that, if your first instinct is to not support the team anymore, then you are not a true fan. I'm sorry to be blunt, but there are many times in life where all you have is LOYALTY.

Was there every game for the past year, if that does not define loyalty on my part, then we will have to disagree.

Everyone has their opinion of course, I am just firm this time on my beliefs.

That's all.

TN is so blessed to have a great wealth of not only football knowledge but sooooooo many coaches and AD 's here tonight. Okay. Remind me why do we need Gruden with so much talent?

Unlike the AD who has been on the job for 13 months, we all bleed orange around here. That accounts for a lot more than some people realize.

We want someone who knows our culture, knows what its like to win here, and has ties to the University. Someone who has a big name. Someone who has championship experience. How many of those people are out there?

I believe that report was accurate. I dispute the timeline of that article. I was told gruden kept demanding more money and control. As soon as it was given to him(which would have been after that report) gruden kept adding more demands. This happened multiple times. He never was going to accept.

Where is all of that info coming from though? I haven't seen that reported anywhere.

I know! I miss them over here!

It was perfect. When they punched in, no Gruden talk. Gave everyone a chance to relax.

Well, in the night shift spirit, I present the real life pedo bear...

How's that workin for ya?

I'm angry but it will pass. It really doesn't make sense to me that Vol fans will try to troll other Vol fans because of the way they feel on certain topics. It's perfectly fine for you to attend any number of games with unwaivering support for the AD and next head coach (whoever that may be), but there isn't anything wrong with fans not renewing their tickets out of frustration.

Just as believable as anything else we have heard. In fact more so

um not really...

I think Hargis has more merit than anything the Knox Sports Media has doled out.

Front page article - Editor checked sources - Hargis staked rep on line. None in Knoxville have been willing to take that risk.

Again. I believe the story is accurate. The timing of the info is the issue

Can you show us proof? Not being argumentative, and if this can be proved, it will help us resolve our queries.

Early Friday morning I was told by a high ranking booster that an associate athletic director told him Thursday this info. In his words we thought gruden was ours a number of times only to have him change his demands.

That's the best proof I got. It could certainly be cya from the AD but I don't think so

I read Hargis confirmed with his source friday night, the same day the story broke, that his info was legit.

Knox media are the buffoons with a timeline that looks like a two year old scribbled on a piece of paper haha

Son, lets have a little chat about those years you missed. Peyton started a streak of 9 wins against the tide. Majors beat Bear in '82 after a long drought and it was sweet. My accidentally ran into my 72 year old dad on the 45 yard line after we stormed the field. Condredge lit it up, as did Willy Gault and Peerless price. Look up Kiner, Graham, Emanuel , even Johnny Bulter.

Now contrast that with a guy who gets touchdowns called back for celebration (twice) when it's November and we haven't won an SEC game yet. What's to celebrate? Or a quarterback throwing a touchdown against Vandy and then getting caught on TV shooting stink eye at the Vandy bench when in reality, he's getting his ass beat and being cocky about it.

I saw my first UT game in ' 65 vs. Army. Spent many fall afternoons in neyland and I promise you, this is as low as its been, at least to me. Worse than when we started ou 0-6 with majors. We recovered quite nicely if you go back and look, but for a moment it was almost as dark.

I think a coach with some spine would cure some of this cancer I call cockiness and right the ship. As loyal as I am, it's hard to watch train wreck after train wreck and want more of it.

Take heart though, bama suffered too during the Dubose, Shula, Price and Francione years. You'd never think they were down, but they were and have recovered nicely. UT can do that too, but it's a critical time. Success breeds success and at one point this season, 5 of the teams that we play every year were in the top 10. Not fair you say? Well there once was a day when we were hanging right in there with them and competitive. Only glimmer of that was the first half of the Florida game this year before the bottom fell out. If we get another loser, even the loyal guys will bail. Sorry, but I'm not paying to watch stink eye.

Thank you for some great insight coming from a long time vols fan and some history as well. I wasn't really speaking to monetary support so much as faith and loyalty. I am in no position to afford season tickets, but I go to what games I can. Eventhough I can't spend my money to watch football, I will still cheer for them and defend them. Besides I will be making my monetary contributions over the next 30 years to the university...Student loans, emergency appendectomy at UT medical and my son was born at UT medical in June...

Gotcha, well this certainly shows us that there is still a lot of questions either way.

I appreciate your input during this Bruin, either way.
